Yes, Johns Hopkins hospital is in his district. Its also located in one of the most dangerous neighborhoods in the country. The media is deliberately distorting this district. Most of his district is a complete dump. Its mostly made up of the most dangerous areas of the city of Baltimore The media is suggesting that its a highly educated district. The education level of the district is distorted because it includes Columbia Maryland. Columbia is a super wealthy DC suburb made up mostly of affluent white libs who fled the DC suburbs they destroyed. When people in Maryland think of Cummings district, they think of West Baltimore, Americas shithole.
The Hopkins hospital is on the East side of Baltimore. Close to Little Italy and just up Broadway from the Fells Point area. It used to in a decent neighborhood. Not anymore.
Look at what President Trump and Ben Carson are doing for Baltimore:

“I am just curious how Johns-Hopkins can survive in a tough district.”
So am I. I’m also curious how USC can be a school that rich people cheat to get into and also be located in a bad part of LA. My guess in that both institutions have learned by hard experience how to keep the chaos away. It probably involves a lot of on-site security.
I've been there. A lot of security guards.
Well said VietVet.
I had to go to Hopkins Hospital in town last week for a procedure. (Normally go to Hopkins Bayview).
The hospital itself is about 6-8 blocks that are OK. 500 ft. and beyond in any direction from there is Indian Country.
Was never more happy to get out to the county before sundown.
I used to go to the Applied Physics Laboratory on a regular basis. The rental car companies would give you a briefing on how to handle car jackings when you picked up a car.

Many top-flight universities are in rough neighborhoods. The University of Chicago, Yale University, Columbia University, and the University of Pennsylvania come to mind.
USC
Communist suburbs.
“USC”
Yep. Was already mentioned in post #25.
JHU Applied Physics Laboratory is in Laurel, not Baltimore.
I know. You still had to go to Thurgood Marshall International Airport to get there. Its the closest airport being 11 miles away.
They have an advanced transplant center there. The neighborhood provides an infinite supply of freshly shot young black men ready to donate organs.
This is incorrect. Columbia, Md is represented by
John Sarbanes, the son of former US Senator Paul Sarbanes.
I live In Ellicott City Maryland and we are in Cummings extremely gerrymandered district. We were placed into Cummings district so we couldnt contribute to electing a Republican Congressional Representative. We have only one Republican Congressman (Teapartier Andy Harris) in Maryland and he is the only decent one we have in Congress. Even Western Maryland has been gerrymandered so it wont be able to elect a Republican.
We dont have rats and roaches in our neighborhood but we sure do have them in our Congressional district.
“Why cant you be polite and helpful or just keep to ypurself”?
Because I’m a cranky old guy and when people ask questions about silly things that they can answer themselves, I get crankier.
I know what you mean, though. :)
I guess it just hit me wrong.
Good question.
The hospital was founded in 1889 ... many decades before the area around it became a hellhole.
