On Monday, Equifax settled with the US Federal Trade Commission over its 2017 data breach, which affected 147 million Americans.
The settlement of up to $700 million includes as much as $425 million for individual compensation. With so many Americans affected, it's very likely you could qualify for some form of compensation as a result of the settlement.
And with so many names, addresses, birthdates and Social Security numbers leaked, you could still be at long-term risk for identity theft.

That number likely signed up in the first half hour.
Yes, if your info was compromised. You can find out by clicking on the link in post 2
Your data is probably already in the wild because of the breech.
I’m an illegal alien with 9 SSN. Can I apply for all of them or is there a limit? I heard obamy claimed all 12 of his.
I saw that; I have my doubts that this *party* can be trusted w/ all that personal info.
No thanks.
Thanks for posting this article, even if from CNN. Checked and found my data breached, no cash loss that I know of, sign I chose the 7 yr option.
I did and I was - $125 coming in the mail -— cool.

this says not everyone qualified will be paid or will be paid the entire $125

I’ll bet 100% of people are being told they were compromised; and will be getting spam emails for the rest of their lives from this 3rd party.
I had NO idea about this!!
AFAIK, all three. Then there are 2 or 3 more whose names I can’t remember.
If some steals your identity, just.....
You can only claim money if you can document damages to wit mitigation costs spent exceeding 10 hours.
Hence the popularity of class actin suits: lawyer gets a large fraction of a large total for starters, then keeps everything not claimed by mostly ignorant class members.
Most likely not that amount and by the time you do get a check next year, you will have forgotten all about it.......LOL!
UP TO $125. Quite likely you will never see the $125. If more than 248,000 of the 147 million people affected sign up, the price drops. It says if all 147 million were to sign up for the settlement the $125 drops to 21 cents each.
Considering AOC already tweeted out about getting your Equifax “free money”...well
Then you would be 100% wrong. See post #19
Happened before - got a check from BankAmerica for ninety-eight cents after about a year; never knew what it was for.
“got a check from BankAmerica for ninety-eight cents after about a year; never knew what it was for.”
Ah thanks. I got one for $1.09 once and just realized what it was for. Thanks Optigrab.

A bunch of years ago I checked with my state and discovered they had $750 for me. I have no idea where it came from......It may have been a savings account I forgot about when I left northern Michigan for the Army in 1969 and never returned and the bank gave the funds to the state.
You only get the $125 is you already have credit monitoring. At least that’s how I read it.
There is that. (frowney face)
