The Southern country-rock group Confederate Railroad has lost a second summer fair gig after objections over the use of the Confederate flag in its logo. The band's upcoming performance at Ulster County Fair in New York on August 1 was confirmed cancelled by spokesman Pat Ryan on Thursday. This was the second in a month after Illinois Governor JB Pritzker removed them from the Du Quoin State Fair line-up over the band's logo, which features a steam locomotive flying Confederate flags. Ryan said in a statement: 'The Ulster County Fair must be an event that everyone can enjoy while representing the values of all members of our community.

This is a little different from what we've been discussing, but the Flyers hockey team up until recently had Wayne Simmonds on the roster. He could score. He's black. He was also one of the few Flyers who would take the gloves off and fight...imagine that, the Flyers, not fighting.

He was one of the fan favorites...yep, a largely white fan base loved Simmonds...not because of his color, not because of his views, but because of how he PLAYED.

Same thing with Larry Bird, but in reverse.

Two examples, decades apart, tell us that most people remain collegial citizens, and they care about what's in their fellow man's heart. They are winning the daily battles of substance.
