OTTAWA, Ontario (CBS Local) A driver in Canada who allegedly strapped a toddler to a beer case instead of a car seat was charged with failing to properly secure a child, police said.
The 22-year-old driver was pulled over early Tuesday at around 2:30 a.m. in the village of Atwood, near Listowel, therecord.com reported. Ontario Provincial Police officers say a 2-year-old child was also in the car, sitting on a 30-can case of beer.
The Wellington North driver, who was not unidentified in order to protect the childs privacy, had allegedly put the case on the seat of his car and strapped the child to it.
The toddler was not injured. A child seat was brought to the driver, and Family and Childrens Services was notified of the incident, CP24 reported.

Before I can pass judgement on this, I need to know what kind of beer it was.
Better than a 29 can case.
I hope he wasn’t a First Nations citizen.
Makes sense, as they probably worked way better than the slippy phone books of yesteryear.
I was watching Courteney Cox on I think, the Tonight Show. She said that when she was 9, her Daddy was driving from Dothan, Alabama to Panama City.
He got tired and let her drive. She was too small to see so he put her on a thick telephone directory.

You might be a Redneck if......
Good thing the kid wasn’t sitting on five six pack bottles of beer.
Probably Molson. It was either Ricky or Julian I bet!
2:30 a.m., with a two year old child??? Says a lot about the daddy.
Of course they did, and rightly so. The kid would have warmed the beer all up.
” driver, who was not unidentified “ SMH!
I don’t get this. It seems like it would be the right height. :D
I think it’s probably Labatt’s
Well I grew up in the day when we didn’t have child car seats or seat belts for that matter.. Are traffic deaths down? If a car is ripped in half your seat belt will probably no save you..
I remember standing up in the front seat between two adults as they drove around. This was in the late 1940s while I was maybe five. Shudder...
