He could be acting in defiance of a bad court.
I don't have enough details to know. He could've defended himself and they're getting him for stabling 5 times when he should've only stabbed him the court allowed number. I simply don't know.

After stabbing the three guys he went back to his house. I like how the crazy ones always go back to their house. Like you see on Cops a high speed chase and the drunk guy makes it to his ramshackle house and stumbles out “OK!” as they all tackle him.
