Amazon actually does have some good prices for food if you purchase a large amount. I still have parts of 3 cases of Campbells soup, Castelbury beef stew and spam.
I got them cheaper than Walmart and they were shipped to my door for free.
I can see where there is room for yet more disintermediation on many processed food items.
It would not surprise me at all to see a “white privilege” surcharge get added.

From what I have seen: Food Stamps are now EBT credit cards and can be used to buy used children’s clothing at the Goodwill Store on half price day. Most of those shoppers were speaking Spanish and had lots of small children. Frugal shoppers for sure. They were not purchasing gourmet foods. Of course one has to wonder...Is the government paying them to have poverty babies.?
This is probably a good thing for poor shut ins, especially in bad neighborhoods.
Hopefully, it’s only for survival cookbooks. How to cook roadkill and stuff like that.

i am not a Bezos fan by any means, but some Amazon prices are OK .. and their service is 99 percent in our experience
the one thing you need to watch out for is.. if you sign up for their Subscribe and Save service... sometimes they increase the prices on the items you’ve subscribed to... they do not seem to send any notice of these price hikes, so you may wish to watch them very closely a few days before they ship each month.
some price hikes are just 6 cents, but occasionally they can double an item’s price and you get charged (and receive the item) before you realize what happened (unless you are monitoring as above)

You know everyone will dismiss you as defending food stamps for such luxuries as reduced prices and fast delivery.
In fact, Amazon Fresh, Amazon's online grocery store, was started in Seattle more than ten years ago.
For low income elderly and disabled persons, Food Stamp home delivery might actually be more economical than the hodgepodge of delivery methods that Social Services has previously used.

EBT cards have dual use.
Food Stamps - plus - any cash benefits that a person might receive from Social Services.
Most likely, a place like Goodwill has an EBT terminal that accepts payment only from the EBT cash account.
