Independent Rep. Justin Amash said during a Sunday morning interview with CNN's Jake Tapper that he would have left the Republican Party even if Donald Trump were not president. Amash announced he was leaving the party in a Washington Post op-ed published on the Fourth of July. "You didnt mention President Trump in your op-ed in the Post but you did say you believe the GOP stood for limited government and economic freedom until recent years," Tapper began. "Do you think you would be leaving the Republican Party if Donald Trump were not president?"

No worries justine. A lot of us have left the gop over the past couple of years. We just didn’t become ranting liberals like you. Prattle on sonny boy, prattle on.
If youre not a Conservative through and through, youre destined to turn into a brain dead liberal.
Ah. So Amash is simply an opportunist.
“I would leave GOP even if Trump were not president”
Remove one word (”even”), and Amash basically speaks for about all of us, as in:
“I would leave GOP if Trump were not president”
Amash ran as a Republican because of the district
He is a fraud. He lied to get into office. Hes losing badly in early primary polling. He knows he wont be re-elected.
IF he runs for president Im sure he can pick some Arab to join him
The GO0P may have given lip service to be limited government and economic freedom over the years but it’s a stretch to say they stood for it. At least President Trump is doing something to reduce the size and scope of government. No thanks to you, Smash.
Adios Camel Humper! There is little difference between this Arab a$$hole and the female goat roper from Somalia, Omar. I just hope the DOJ can find the time to investigate his dealings with China.
Grrrrr! Damn dirty autocorrect! You had one job!
Well see what the next election brings...
He is a Libertarian yet he hates the only Political Party attempting to follow at least some Libertarian Beliefs such as supporting our Individual Freedoms as outlined in the First, Second and Fourth Amendments to the Constitution.
Before I get flamed, I stated SOME. The opposing Party believes in NONE.
Amash is a hot mess of confusion.
“The GO0P may have given lip service to be limited government and economic freedom over the years but its a stretch to say they stood for it”
And at least in my life, until Trump came along and shined the light on the GOP, I actually believed that they wanted to help me as a Conservative. To my everlasting shame that I was so oblivious, but I think I’ve had a lot of company over the years.
Not fallin for it.
Amen, bro. I convinced myself of that several times. I even caught flak from fellow FReepers for daring to suggest that certain Republicans be voted out of office or simply not voted in because of their timidity and fecklessness. ‘Course, those jerkface pukes had a valid point. What was I going to do, vote for the ‘RAT opponent? As if it made a difference.
Well.........bye.
Tapper should have asked him when is going to return the money he fraudulently took from donors.
>>No worries justine. A lot of us have left the gop over the past couple of years.<<
It left us but it is the only game in town.
The perfect is the enemy of the good.
I thought that his criticism was directed at BOTH parties which a lot of us agree with. But our frustrations probably not the same as his.
