“The researchers aren’t sure how common this variation of the disorder is, although they did find it in about half of the brain samples analyzed.”
So did they need a slice of the patients brain to make the diagnosis?
What we need in medicine is a robust merging of respect for
1) The spiritual nature of man that we are not just body and ‘brain’ as it were, but SOUL.
2) The neurological and chemical workings of the brain to better treat psychiatric realities.
3) The impact of personal life trauma and environmental factors in a person’s life, and how this is manifested in the brain. Especially in youth!
Another area of research that is interesting to me are diet and lifestyle factors’ impact on mental health. I highly doubt a poor diet/sedentary lifestyle could CAUSE mental illness, but it may exacerbate it!
We all know the obvious impact drugs and alcohol can have on the brain...but examining the impact of ‘regular’ food and drinks is worth a look! I’m sure certain ‘all natural’ products people utilize for better health, might have some unintentional bad side effects too — as plants are quite potent!
The Duchess of Cambridge, Kate Middleton, has started an initiative to encourage more outdoor activity and camraderie among British youth.
Schizophrenia = marijuana
Brain plaque reduced with statins.
Back in the ‘eighties a friend of mine who I got my chemistry degree with was working on a project of analyzing dialysate from schizophrenics.
Turns out when you put some schizophrenics on dialysis within a couple of weeks they are no longer schizophrenic.
Wish I knew how the research turned out.
Thanks for posting this. I have a personal stake, and it matters, a lot.
I believe it
But then i dont believe it
Main cause of schizophrenia is illegal drug use.
