In 2019, we cant afford to not get political, even with escapist entertainment. So even though Elizabeth Banks Charlies Angels reboot is a high-stakes, globe-trotting spy thriller comedy, she still made sure to send a message with extreme real-world ties within the story about female spies: Believe women.
Letting female rage express itself was one of the most important aspects of the new installment of the Charlies Angels franchise, Banks, who directed, wrote and co-stars, tells Collider along with a small group of journalists. One of the ingredients of this movie was supporting and believing women, she says. We literally have a character who is essentially working at a big corporation and is not being believed or listened to by her bosses.
Charlies Angels, starring Kristen Stewart, Ella Balinska and Naomi Scott as the new iteration of badass female spies, centers on Scotts character Elena when shes just a normal civilian as she hires the Townsend Agency to help uncover a sinister plot she discovered within a large tech company. Her journey towards becoming an Angel herself is the story of the new movie, set in the same world as the original 70s TV series, 2000 movie and 2003 sequel.
One of the statements this movie makes is that you should probably believe women, Banks adds. We have as much validity in what were feeling and how we want to go about living in the world, being in the world, and that was really important to me, that we felt like we had characters that were being taken seriously and given a chance to live their best life.

ghostbustrrs 2016. the awful all broad woke unfunny version.
I’m waiting for a “woke” reboot of “Lord of the Flies.”
Opinions of Hollywood employees are next to worthless...
Anyone here a fan of “Hunger Games” Part 1 & 2?
Elizabeth Banks - writer and director of the Angels reboot - played “Effie Trinket” in all four Hunger Games films.
I thought Banks deserved an Academy Award nomination for Best Supporting Actress in the first two films.
And, I thought Stanley Tucci - who played Caesar Flickerman - deserved the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor in “Hunger Games - Catching Fire,” which was the second movie.
As for "Hunger Games" Part 3 & 4 - painfully, embarrassingly dull.
They tried to make two movies out of one completely average book - and failed badly.
Yup. It will flop big time.
This movie will bomb.
#13 The women are too old for Biden....
The revised intro she did flipping the X-ray on opening credits was typical Scrubs...
Remember, Sarah Palin isnt a woman."
