The odds that Southern California will experience another earthquake of magnitude 7 or greater in the next week are now nearly 11%, according to preliminary estimates from seismologists.
And the chances that a quake will surpass the 7.1 temblor that struck near Ridgecrest on Friday night are roughly 8% to 9%, said Caltech seismologist Lucy Jones.

Short answer: No way.
Long answer: We are using a video camera as the sole measurement tool to watch a bar of steel under load in a testing rig with the measurements of torque and pressure covered up. We can tell you when the bar cracks or breaks, we can draw on the screen where other cracks have appeared in the past. We have no idea as to the metal's hardness, it's temp, the grain structure, etc.
So our being able to predict effects on neighboring faults is incredibly limited. But you're talking trillions of tons of mass; for this quake to affect other faults immediately outside of the strike zone, it is unlikely. About 25km, if I recall correctly, would be the strike zone for a 7.1 quake.
Get The Big One and illegals will be taking boats all the way to Sacramento.
Actually i wonder if it even registers upon them. The reality of major earthquake’s in their supposed promised land.
Dont know about Gods hand, but mine is raising one finger to salute your warm wishes.
Do they really know enough to say, or is this like the 2016 polling that had Clinton running away with it?

Ah, keep your gloves on. We live just SE of Seattle. We will be sliding into the ocean with you. : )
Does that mean that there is an 89% chance it won’t happen?
I don’t have enough fingers and toes to do that calculation.
Yada, yada, yada.
I believe these two large earthquakes in a sparsely populated region in the Mohave Desert are the beginning of the return to historical norms of earthquake activity. Look for dozens of 5-plus earthquakes all over Californicatia over the next 80 years with big ones all but destroying large swaths of Los Angeles including the areas where the motion picture industry is and all but destroy San Francisco.
Too bad the people who will die will not be the politicians and the criminal aliens to which those politicians pander.
If the big one hits a populated area those living in the streets may be the ones to be affected the least. Are they capable of helping others. Maybe this will spook some illegals.
Just wondering - did these seismologists give the odds the second earthquake (this current one) would happen after the first one occurred?
Yes, they always say one in twenty for a larger quake. This time their estimation (not really a prediction) was a little higher due to the unusual number of aftershocks.
The aftershocks continue today. I’m 80 miles from Ridgecrest in my lazy boy recliner and am still feeling gentle wave action almost constantly.
The dutchsinse “discovery” isn’t too hard to follow when you have the data. (They) just don’t want civilians doing their job.
