La pitcher, aged 27 found dead i. Hotel room in DFW...BREAKING
My,for what it’s worth, is OD.
MLB players really don't HAVE to be in particularly good shape.
The Babe was in terrible shape his whole life, but he *really* lived.
He died at 53.
But, boy he enjoyed every minute.
Not common at the time, as the author made note of it.
But Lolich could really throw.
In MLB, as long as you can hit it a country mile, or strike out batters, you can be a big fatass, and nobody cares.
Babe Ruth is one of my heroes. Short life but a full life.
95% of MLB players today are in great shape that most will never attain themselves.
The nature of the sport does allow exceptions. Wilbur Wood was a fatty but was a good athlete that could throw a knuckleball and pitched 376 innings in 1972. Yup, 376 innings with a 2.51 ERA. His WAR actually lists 1971 as a better year, where he only pitched 331 innings but had a 1.91 ERA.
Freegards
Ruth wasnt really fat.
He did have a big round fat face, but it belies the truth about his form.
He was not a chubby guy or anything.
LOL when I watched games in the 80s I noted LOTS of Chicago White Sox seemed to be a bit corpulent.
Ask my husband about my comment, honest to God Ive told him that long before you showed these pix!
Not by today’s standards, anyway.
Soccer Players are considered to be the most fit (Maradona notwithstanding), yet a few players have dropped dead on the pitch, most notably Cameroon player Marc-Vivien Foé during the Confederations Cup.
Great Pic. Baseball would not be baseball without the bambino!
we read it was drugs
what a terrible shame, a 27 year old guy (athlete with doctoring galore, too) shouldn’t be dead
hard drugs ruin, and often take, lives
Just Damn.
Soccer Players are considered to be the most fit...by soccer fans.
Where did you hear that?
Very, very sad. Thanks for posting so we can pray for the family...Would have missed the story since I do not read Drudge anymore.
Is that just conjecture or do you have facts to substantiate it. If it's facts, please post them here. Otherwise, STFU and stop besmirching a dead person's reputation.
Where did you read that? Please post a link.
“Yep, drug overdose. There was cocaine and paraphernalia strewn around the room.”
Has that been confirmed or is it a rumor?
Speculation by known fake news source Santa Monica Observer.
