Best day of the week, best time of the day to drive from Queens, NY to suburban Baltimore?
Personal research | 6/30/19 | Me, Myself, & I

Posted on 06/30/2019 10:35:25 AM PDT by EinNYC

I must make a recon of the Baltimore area where I want to move, check out some real estate. It's the green 'burbs for me, folks, out near the beltway--not the nasty downtown area. I will be taking I95 south out of Queens to B'more. I have a choice between July 15-19 of travel. Which day is best to drive down, and which daylight hours would be best to travel down?

Thank you for any knowledgeable input!

I always arrive in NYC around 3 AM so as not to hit the morning traffic.
I leave NYC at 2AM to avoid the truck drivers who seem to be nore active at around 6AM on the Thruway.
Also, I like to listen to Mark Levin on Sirius, or C2C when driving.

Tuesday after rush hour... too many rushing nuts with both cars and trucks if you leave too early. I suggest Harford County. Anything in closer to Baltimore is problematic. And whatever you do, stay away from the Rt. 40 corridor. The 543 area is nice and still not that much of a drive into Baltimore for a daily commute.

Far enough doesn't exist anymore. The near the Beltway in Baltimore has merged with near the Beltway in DC.

Only if your idea of "far enough doesn't exist" lies between DC and Baltimore. There is a Red Maryland.

I got rerouted on an app in Baltimore once. Don’t trust the travel apps in Baltimore.

Check out Havre de Grace on the Chesapeake. Picturesque quaint little town but unfortunately it’s the freak state of Maryland taxing you deep.
However it’s an improvement vs New Yuck the leftist Empire State.

Unless you have a compelling reason to drop anchor there, may I say to you please consider other areas of the country where there are more like-minded people to associate with.

I’ve seen your posts before and Lord only knows how you made it this far with your sanity.

At any rate, good luck with your trip, your search, and I hope you achieve all you set out to.

Maryland still has some lovely areas full of conservative-minded people.

I grew up here; it’s my state and my people, and it’s in my blood. Regardless of the preponderance of liberal thinking, especially in the area where I now live, I will probably never leave Maryland. (And if we all leave, what’s going to keep it from going entirely to liberal stupidity?)

I was actually very surprised when I saw the support that Trump got in the last election, in my uber-liberal community. It was greater than I would have expected. I live in a majority Black county, and I can see things shifting - maybe only a little, so far; but things are definitely changing.

"Thriday maybe wait till Thunday or Miday- Best hour? I would have to say would be 66 O-Clock or around 67 O-Thirty maybe"

That would get her there too early, but as long as she leaves right away I suppose it might work !) LOL

Don’t feel too secure, they’ll come for you and your stuff when the sun goes down.

Not Friday. Your M-Th days are fine.

Your worst traffic will be getting out of the city. You can just go when your morning rush ends around 9:30 10. If you can be out of the city before the rush, that’s fine too.

There’s always a backup approaching 95 proper off the turnpike in DE, if that’s the way you go.

I go up to Perth Amboy fairly frequently from DC area but am toll averse. I don’t pay tolls getting to that point. If I cross over I do the Holland Tunnel and Williamsburg bridge. If there’s a disaster precluding that, I’ll choke on the Outer Bridge/Veranzano ticket.

I'm curious, why are you coming down here? We are FLOODED with New York and more recently New Jersey license plates. Of course I'll welcome a Freeper but what is going on? You would think New York was a border state a few miles away.

i completely understand, i’ll never move from WNY again, but for people to move into a state controlled by RATS, let alone move from one RAT infested state to another when there other options, well...

I assume that E has good and compelling reasons. I also assume that he/she has the good sense to find a comfortable place to live from which to engage the battle to Make Maryland Great Again.

Speaking of Texas, don’t forget the West Nile virus, Dengue Fever, Chikungunya, Zika. Anthrax is naturally occurring in some locations. Blizzards and ice storms in the winter, hurricanes in the summer and fall. Tornadoes particularly bad in the spring, but can occur any time without much warning.

Remember the wisdom of Phil Sheridan:

“If I owned Texas and Hell, I would rent out Texas and live in Hell”
