Actually that’s one of the few XTC songs I don’t like.
The song it replaced on the original release of Skylarking, Mermaid Smiled, was a much better song.

It might wreck the stories, man... so I'm guessing we probably shouldn't tell you Jerry's dead.

And when you mention Kath, “Free Form Guitar” is always referenced. And how he was one of Hendrix’s favorite guitarists after ZZ Top’s Billy Gibbons.

Clapton was in Cream.
No Judas Priest mentioned though.
Surprised Heep made the list.

Steve Lukather played that hot lead on Randy Newman’s “I Love LA” with Jeff Porcaro (another studio musician on so many tracks including Steely Dan) on drums.
IIRC, the background vocals “We love it” were sang by Fleetwood Mac’s, McVie and Buckingham.

Before Clapton was in Cream, he was in a British group called the “Yardbirds”.
When Clapton left, he was replaced by an unknown guitarist who called himself Jimmy Page...but he left to form a group called “Led Zeppelin”.
The 3rd guitarist was Jeff Beck, arguably the best of the three guitarists.

Lukather’s best solo was the Tubes’ “Talk to ya Later”, also he was to second solo on Henley’s “Dirty Laundry” (Walsh did the first solo)

History is kinda hazy on that point.
I’ve also read Beck came after Clapton but left and was followed by Page who left and was followed by Beck, again.
There’s video that shows both Page and Beck on guitar...but i forget what song.
