California voters recalled Gov. Gray Davis on Tuesday and replaced him with actor Arnold Schwarzenegger, bringing an end to a remarkable campaign that featured one of the planet's best-known entertainers and captivated an international audience.
"I will not fail you, I will not disappoint you, and I will not let you down," the Republican Schwarzenegger vowed after receiving a phone call from Davis conceding the race.
The Democratic incumbent became the first California governor pried from office, and only the second nationwide to be recalled. Davis was elected to a second term just 11 months ago with less than 50 percent of the vote, but fell victim to a groundswell of discontent in a state that has struggled with its perilous financial condition.
"Tonight, the voters did decide it's time for someone else to serve, and I accept their judgment," Davis said. He pledged to work for a smooth transition.

There is now a RECALL MAYOR GARCETTI petition going around for L.A.
Arnold Schekelgrubber was the downfall of “Callefornea.” The only thing he accomplished as governor was banging out an illegitimate son with his Mexican maid. Never, never trust anyone connected in any way with the Kennedys.
How many SIGNED PETITIONS do we need? With Trump’s encouragement perhaps we should go for it. Republicans got 60% of the recall vote with the best on paper candidate Tom McKlintock getting 12%. Rather than a free for all I say LET the higher ups pick a solid conservative with no political background. No Hollywood flash. My pick would be VDH. Already wrote ‘Mexafornia’. That’s all the preparation needed.
Rush warned them. Right here on Free Republic it was open season on Tomikazes (supporters of Tom Tancredo) but any slight against Schwarzenegger supporters was beyond the pale. Californians would not be denied their Party R star.
Ack! I lose again! Tom McClintock was Schwarzeneggers primary opponent.
If Schwarzenegger hadn’t jumped into the race at the last minute, McClintock would have won and California would have had a solid conservative in the state house.
California Proposition 187 was the downfall of California and it was judges who are responsible. 58% of CA voters voted to not give illegal aliens benefits. They (we) did not even want the children to attend school for free. The judges overturned the voters and the politicians gave up on appealing so voila! California is overrun by foreigners using up all the resources of the middle class.

What a disappointment the Austrian sapling turned out to be.
“Dutch” of the Predator is really Bruce of global warming.
Why bother. Just going to replace him with another incompetent liberal idiot. Only thing that can save California is a major quake and it falls into the sea.
LoL love your optimism on our behalf...
“California Proposition 187 was the downfall of California and it was judges who are responsible.”
It was ONE JUDGE, Marianna Pfaelzer:
“Mariana R. Pfaelzer (February 4, 1926 May 14, 2015) was a Jewish American United States federal judge. Born in Los Angeles, California in 1926, Pfaelzer received an A.B. from the University of California, Santa Barbara in 1949 and a J.D. from the UCLA School of Law in 1957.
She was the federal judge who overturned a 1994 California initiative (Prop 187) that would have denied health and welfare benefits and public schooling to undocumented immigrants, has died at age 89.
Judge Pfaelzer had a 57-year legal career, the first 20 years as a business litigator and trial lawyer after graduating first in her class at UCLA law school. She was appointed to the U.S. District Court in Los Angeles by President JIMMY CARTER in 1980, the first woman ever named to that court, and was still serving as a senior judge at the time of her death on May 14.”
So once again, we can “THANK” Jimmy Carter!
Unforgivable
