Latest flu vaccine failing against current strain, CDC reports

CDC reports that the vaccine failed miserably against a flu bug that popped up halfway through the season.

This season's shot turned out to be a mismatch against the bug that showed up late in the year. The least effective flu vaccine in the past decade was in 2014-2015; that year a mismatch was also blamed.

According to ABC News, vaccines against most infectious diseases are not considered successful unless they are at least 90% effective. Due to the flu virus' ability to change so quickly, vaccine effectiveness usually averages around 40%.

Thank you for mentioning sleep! I think it’s much more important than people realize. The few times I’ve found myself feeling sick, I go to bed way early, hunker down and sleep 9-10 hours. That’s usually enough to kick it.

People who don’t have shoddy immune systems, or who don’t work around those who do, generally don’t need them. However, people with suppressed immune systems like myself would rather have a less severe flu after being vaccinated as opposed to having no protection at all and possibly being hospitalized.

I’d say getting enough sleep is a huge preventive for illness. I usually don’t, during the school year, and if the deficit of sleep is too great, I’ll feel under the weather and hit all the stuff in my earlier post so I don’t get sick.

And one you get that tickle in the throat or feel less than 100%, definitely hit the hay like you do and try to get a ton of rest.

Happens too often to make getting the vaccine worth the risk.

The vaccine pushers really are a bunch of medical Nazis.

The AAP admits children (70%) are deficient in VitD. But do they have a campaign to get children’s blood levels of D up? Nope. Far more profitable to jab them annually.

I NEVER get the flu. And I have NEVER had a flu shot. And I was ALWAYS sick with this stuff growing up, until I cast off the crappy diet, vax, and other unhealthy garbage in my home. There’s nothing like having an obese (ie. body suffering inflammation and likely pre-diabetes, or Type 2/top of disease pyramid) idiot lecture me about vax and other health matters.

“Vitamin d blood levels about 70”

That’s where I am at, but it takes more than 5000 IU/day to get me there. And I’ve been there for several years now.

The liposomal C is great. So is oil of oregano.

Yep - have only got the shot about 1 in 6 years and those years I tend to have more colds and what seems to be mild Flu-like maladies.

Solves has 10,000 ui capsules. I tend to use those, taking them every other day and skipping days after beach or high sun days. I get tested a couple times a year and if I hit 100 in the blood I scale back. I didn’t get any bad illnesses this last winter. And I’m thoroughly exposed with two small kids.
