Thomas Gilbert Sr., a founding managing partner of the hedge fund Wainscott Capital, was found dead in his apartment in January 2015 with a gunshot wound to the head.
Gilbert's attorneys did not dispute that he killed his father but said he was not guilty by reason of insanity. Jurors dismissed the insanity defense; they also found him guilty on two counts of criminal possession of a weapon in the second degree.
Gilbert, 34, played football at Princeton and graduated with a degree in economics. At the time of the shooting, he was 30 and unemployed, receiving up to $1,000 a week from his parents.
Hours before Thomas Sr. was killed, he cut his son's weekly allowance to $300, prosecutors said.

300 is still good enough for booze and amazon prime.
Can we get this guy adopted by the guy who beat his five year old to death?
$1000 a week, $52,000 a year, as an allowance???
More than many earn from working at an actual job.
Sometimes I am speechless.
...Under a bridge, maybe! :-D
I bet half of that went for to pay for rent.
Clearly a democrat.
JoMa
LOL
He had the world on a string, and then he popped that string.
This guy is also suspected of burning his former friend’s house down to the ground after he was evicted for violent behavior.
Some neighbors claim to have seen him standing on a hillside near the house, just watching it all burn down.
That sounds like a scene from The Joker movie with Heath Ledger.
The baby was never weaned from the nipple.
Lesson learned: they’ll eventually kill ya if you don’t do it early enough.
$1,200 month free and clear? Yeah, Austin just eased restrictions on the homeless. Tents are going up under overpassed now. Yeah, that dude coulda had his Amazon Prime and a bevy of free spirits with him in his five-man tent under a bridge.
You’re tempting to start over there :)
Yeah, I wouldn’t want to be living under an overpass in Austin (or San Antonio for that matter). The whole bit about being drenched with bat guano every evening is not my idea of a good time. :P
30 year old baby who expected Daddy to pay for everything. $52k a year! Wow! I had to work part time for min wage for any money I had in college.
He’ll end up being Big Bubba’s baby doll in prison. Funny how these things turn out.
From “Ruthless People”....
Barbara: (whistles) Nice butt. That’s what they’ll say.
Ken: I beg your pardon?
Barbara: Nice butt. That’s what they’ll say on your first day, in the men’s club.
Ken: The men’s club?
Barbara: Mmm. The San Quentin Country Club. With a cute little rear end like that, you’ll be the belle of the ball. Your dance card’ll be filled every day. You’ll be so popular, making all kinds of new, close friends. Big, ugly, hairy friends! Not that you’ll ever see what they look like, ‘cause you’ll be facing the other way.
Ken: You’re very good at this. You should write children’s books.
Antifa, I’m thinking.
How many photos of that female soccer player do we have to have on Free Republic?
That’s OK. It was probably “no fault” murder. /s
