The border between Nogales and Ajo is long, hot and dry except for a few miles and remote beyond imagination
The BP work solo for the most part. The cartels work with scouts and every technical advantage.
The soldiers and BPs are expendable.
But suicide? Trust is not warranted.
Don't assume that, in our area we normally see soldiers alone. Border Patrol is working in the area but may be several miles away.
I heard a rumor that both deaths were suicide before this article. Seems to be a large coincidence to me. One...sure but two in the same area of the border? I know it gives the miles apart but that whole area is controlled by the same cartel on the Mexican side. That is why I say same area.
I think so too.
I have no idea...well I do have an opinion what the military in our area is doing, and I can say if they are doing what I think they are the cartel would want to get rid of them.
This happened in AZ, I live in NM so no idea what is going on there with the military. If it happened here I would be convinced cartel did it.
It’s VERY unusual.
I suppose we will never know the answers, as with so many other lingering questions over events past.
Given all the above, I consider even having these troops at the border in the impotent capacity determined by potus to be a waste of time. About as fruitful as jorge busho committing us to a decades long war in the ME.
Truth from government/pols seems in extremely short supply. Trust is so “then”.

Larger question. Why are we sending out military on patrol solo? I get that there is a huge amount of territory to cover, but even general safety concerns in remote places would warrant a buddy system. Especially since these were temporary assigned soldiers and not BP familiar with the territory.
If this was a cartel murder made to look like suicide, a buddy system would have looked like what it was.
