I laughed at a lot of the forms.Stories Grandma tells about Census out in Montana ranch country about curl me into a ball for laughing.
Sixty miles between "towns" (anything over 100 people in a couple square miles + a store + gas station + MAYBE a Post Office), ten miles between mail boxes/dirt road to the associated house and major population changes limited to cow/calf units plus the occasional human birth/death that could be tabulated just by asking the store clerk.

I had started a form for a veteran and in the middle of the form he stopped and yelled at me. He said why the H#LL should I be talking to you? You couldn't give a S#IT what I think or need. (military form to help Vets.)...I cut in and said my husband was a Vietnam vet..as he hung up on me. I continued to answer calls for help and my supervisor walks over (who I had never met)and asked if my name was....and a military vet wanted to talk to someone he hung up on who's husband was a Vietnam vet.
I was then able to complete his form and hopefully get him the help he needed. He had a doctorate degree but no job. He didn't need money but wanted a job.
Told me he'd be delighted to show me and my husband around Washington DC. He drove a special van. Can't believe I remember this after so long ago. I thanked him but said once I hung up...I had to forget his name.

Ran a crew in SW VA last time. Was the same here.
After the census started I felt there was an attempt to reduce our findings here in ‘Trump territory’ by the leader.
Wamted us to spend a lot of time on non-productive visits.
