I agree with you on your point about Rapinoe being not that famous...If you ask americans in a poll, if they know who Megan Rapinoe is, I think over 50% would have no idea.
President did praise the team for the performance so far...
I don’t think team members will not play well because they are upset that President praised them...
Megan Rapinoe and Alex Morgan did not think too much about the team when they said that they would not visit White House. How about them not saying anything until World Cup is over? Their statements turned many people against the team even before the first game was played...

Rapinoe is a good soccer player...That is why US Soccer Federation is keeping her on the team in spite of her antics.
However, many years ago, Federation kicked out Hope Solo from the team...She was an excellent goalkeeper.
