Yes. It is a synthetic Aperture Radar. The Global Hawk can also carry an auxiliary SIGINT package.

Depends on the drone. For Global Hawk the answer is yes

The best explanation I’ve heard is that it was Russian soldiers that fired the missile. That would explain much

It was an RQ-4A Global Hawk.

Their exact capabilities are classified. But they are a reconnaissance/surveillance platform - so they should have good stuff on board to ‘see’ what is going on.

It’s not easy but also not impossible. The predators were easy to jam compared to the reapers. But the caveat was you had to know they were there. In order to jam them you have to do it line of sight and interrupt the satellite link causing a loss of signal. When that happens the aircraft would automatically RTB. Eventually the jamming would be lost because you can’t jam it line of sight forever (the earth is round, ya know) and operators would regain control of the aircraft.

I imagine they can also intercept wireless surveillance cameras over a wide area of territory.

Here in OK our former Gov. Fallin authorized a corridor of airspace to be used by certain private UAV companies (read..ones that have DOJ contracts) to test their equipment. Pretty much if you live anywhere between Lawton, OK and Kansas you are under their gaze. DHS as well as our own DOT use facial recognition as well as any other bio-metric info that has been collected on the public (both from DOD and DOJ sources) to identify you and update their databases, while you are merely driving down the road or even walking around your own rural property. Some of the little birds in the skies aren’t birds. When most people think UAV they only picture predators or global hawks. Well there are a bunch more of the small bird and dragonfly size being used domestically by what used to be known as our Joint Terrorism Task Force (they changed their initials recently) With a cloud of little “birds” you can follow your target with a 360 degree dome of surveillance.

But what do I know, I only live in the middle of it ;) maybe i need to switch to decaff.

They can take video, but we won't be allowed to see it.

We have been at war with Iran for a long time. What I object to is that Iran is the only side waging it.

No, the military just sends them out to fly around.....And they're not really controlled by military personnel but rather teenage geeks preparing for the Drone Racing League....Sheesh!

They have shown ‘parts’ of what they say is the drone.
