There are still a few young rock and roll bands out there. Dancing and prancing and putting on a great show. Largely undiscovered, but starting to be seen and heard. Dont give up. There will be a resurgence of rock and roll with the new kids. Kinda like the clothing styles come back after many years. I dont think rock and roll is dead yet.
As for younger musicians, my trick is to note one good one on YouTube, then listen to similar performers who are listed alongside them, or session musicians who have played with them. I’ve discovered lots of fantastic music you’ll never hear on the radio.
Check out Paolo Nutini.
Then go to Bettye LaVette.
I’m not so much into hard rock these days.
More into bluegrass, delta blues.
Also a lot of the old timer rock stars who haven’t had any “hits’ lately are actually doing far more interesting things now than decades ago, when they were “famous.”
Ian Anderson (Jethro Tull)
Robert Plant (Led Zep)
Dr. John recently died— that guy played with the Stones & 1000s of others. He was so much more of a musician than his famous persona & his entire catalog is worth checking out on youtube.
