Mick Jagger and the Rolling Stones kick off North American tour
CBS News ^ | 6/22/2019 | CBS News

An energetic Mick Jagger skipped, spun, sprinted and pranced Friday night as the Rolling Stones launched their North American tour at Chicago's Soldier Field. The 75-year-old showed no sign of ill health three months after the tour was postponed because a doctor said he required medical treatment.

By all visible indications: Jagger was Jagger.

Before a sold-out crowd of around 60,000 at the Chicago Bears home stadium, the band's finger-wagging frontman opened with "Street Fighting Man," running from the stage in the end zone area and down a narrow stage jutting into the crowd on what is normally the 30-yard line of the football field.

“They ran out of ideas around July 2, 1969, when Brian Jones was murdered.”

$$$$$$$$$$

LOL. The only one who murdered Brian Jones was himself.

He did help get them to stardom, but the Stones did their best stuff without him.

Brian Jones murdered? Conspiracy theorist.

In April 1967, the CIA coined the term "conspiracy theorist" to discredit people who did not accept the Warren Report on Kennedy's assassination. It is a form of deflection to avoid discussing a subject.

So The Who’s “Hope I die before I get old” doesn’t apply to these folks, I take it.

I neither lover or hate the stones.

During the last north American tour, I was working at their concert.

I heard them as clear as everyone but I couldn't watch the show (though I did take a couple breaks to watch a couple songs).

They were solid. They gave an enthusiastic performance. Mick was still strutting as if he was still in his teens.

I also watched his mic check.

Mick wasn't waiting in his dressing room while some roadie checked the sound system

Mick was on stage with Richards and Mic was belting out a song and moving all over the stage feeling it out.

Regardless what anyone thinks of him and the Stones, I believe they love what they do and it shows in the performance and sell-out arena venues.

I've never claimed that the Stones can't perform anymore, and they've always paid very close attention to their sound. My favorite Stones' song - "The Spider and the Fly" - was never a single in the US.

I loved the arrangement - the sassy harmonica, the bluesy bass, the country-ish rhythm guitar accents, and the guitar solo. It was a perfect arrangement, and the Stones did that a lot, paid a lot of attention to detail. I've always thought of them as a very intelligent band even though they didn't exactly LOOK the part.

Wow. You’re going WAY back, when Letterman was occasionally funny.

They were on my bucket list and a few years ago, I got to see them at the Horseshoe. They were amazing! Mick had the energy of a young adult! Now I’m looking forward to seeing them again on Tuesday!

There are still a few young rock and roll bands out there. Dancing and prancing and putting on a great show. Largely undiscovered, but starting to be seen and heard. Don’t give up. There will be a resurgence of rock and roll with the new kids. Kinda like the clothing styles come back after many years. I don’t think rock and roll is dead yet.

It’s a huge comfort in life to know that you may be aging and times are stressful, but the Stones are still touring like it’s 1966.

Things change as you get older. Once upon a time I didn’t want to live to 50. So many of the 50 year olds I’d seen were in such bad shape with so many health problems, just didn’t appeal. Well I turn 50 in 3 weeks. I’m in some of the best shape of my life and bear no resemblance to the 50 year olds I’d seen. I’m good with another couple of decades.

Like it did when you were young?,
Or, did you come down crashing,
See'n all the things you've done,
Oh,But it's so put on."

...he said he didn't want to be playing rock'n'roll when he was in his 60s; he thought it would be undignified and embarrassing.

Wish he'd stuck with his statement.

I'm embarrassed for him.

I wonder whose new heart Mick got this time around?

They may or may not still sound good, but it can be hard to get past the visual:

Talent night at the retirement home?

The indignity and embarrassment can at least be partly assuaged, apparently, by being paid several hundred thousand dollars per hour.

Grace Slick long ago said it’s ridiculous, and she weren’t gonna do it. I saw “The Who” in 198? something ... during their “Farewell Tour”. (It’s taking longer than they thought)
