Interesting. I viewed it as a plausible alternative theory which explained the many systems failures. With passengers & crew dead from toxic smoke, the plane could have flown on just as described after turning back toward the airport.

But why go through all the flight changes and so on? Why not not ditch the plane once he locks the copilot out?
