A “vibrant” Queens mom of four is the latest fatality to be reported at a Dominican Republic resort — where she died within hours of coming down with a mystery stomach illness.
Donette Edge Cannon, 38, visited the embattled tourist destination on a family trip last year to Sunscape Bávaro Beach Punta Cana to celebrate her brother-in-law’s birthday.

“She was posting videos to show how much fun she was having,” her sister, Candace Edge Johnson, told The Post on Friday.
The group experienced minor stomach issues over the course of the trip, but nothing that caused concern for Cannon, who suffered from diabetes and was receiving dialysis treatment.
“For us, throughout the trip, we kept using the bathroom,” Johnson said. “We went to a restaurant in the same condition, anytime we ate we were using the bathroom.”

As I said in another thread, stay out of s-—hole countries, folks. I don’t care how cheap vacations there are. There are good reasons why they’re cheap. Folks with money and brains stay the hell away.

Most trips are booked and paid for months in advance. They would lose their money. Even if you had trip insurance it is unlikely it would cover the cost of being afraid of dying.
I am guessing that bookings have dropped off to nothing.
People just don’t understand the level of cleanliness and medical care we have in the USA. Clean water for one. They just take for granted it’s that way everywhere. Death might be coming to you in something as simple as the ice cubes in your drink and home made alcohol they sell as the real deal down there.
This is more than simple lack of cleanliness

My first thought when I saw the headline.
A person I know who has gone to Bermuda on vacation every year told me this year a family outing was planned by others to go to Punta Cana DR.

The Queens Mum has been dead for a while.
This happened last year . Many of the deaths we are hearing about now have happened over the past year . Until recently , people just thought it was isolated cases .
Not sure how she could be the “latest” to die when it happened over a year ago. Some of these deaths that are being reported happened years ago. Did the DR piss off some reporter or news outlet and this is their revenge?
Are they really? Many, most, or all of these recent reports are not very recent- this one was May 2018.
