Ok, the fact is, sometimes people die on vacation, it happens.
So I think they may be going a bit overboard here.
Has anyone done the math on number of Americans visiting DR, their average stay and normal death rate of Americans? This might be like the Dilbert cartoon where Dogbert outrages the boss by telling him that 40% of the sick days are taken on Monday and Friday...which is what you would expect.

I wouldn’t go there for a lot of reasons.
But this is starting to sound like the “shark attack” stories. I don’t have the numbers, but let’s say on average 10 Americans are attacked by sharks. Like clockwork. Every year. Once every 5 years or so the media searches for something to write about and starts counting the number of shark attacks — Seven of them! OMG! Eight of them! Oh! Oh! Nine of them! When will this ever stop! What’s causing it?? Is it Global Warming?? Now there’s ten attacks!!!

Trust me if I had booked a vacation to the Dominican Republic it would have been cancelled. There have been too many deaths and Dominican officials have not been adequately investigating why this is happening. There is a common thread of pulmonary edema on the autopsies, but local officials have been too quick to label the deaths as “heart attacks”. Tourism is a major industry and you would think local officials would do everything to find and eliminate the cause. Instead it appears there has been a whitewash of the facts.
What happens in the DR stays in the DR.
If only Americans are dying there is definitely foul play underway
