“If people can see the wrong in Vincent Chin’s case, maybe, just maybe their eyes will be opened to the wrong in profiling a black, Mexican, or Muslim person.”

What a spurious and tortured association that that is attempting to make!

RE: What a spurious and tortured association that that is attempting to make!

I agree with you. The problem we have in America is this — We have one of the freest, most generous immigration system in the world.

The problem is, foreigners are EXPLOITING this generosity and using our compassionate system to flout our laws and take advantage of our innovation and technology.

This however, should not blind us to the reality that racism ( like the one in Vincent Chin’s case ) and Xenophobia does exist.

Unfortunately, the OVERUSE of the word — RACISM clouds the difference between sound policies that are meant to protect this country from exploiters and REAL racism.

No mention of the numerous white people murdered because they were white.

This chicklette Louise Hung has got it all wrong.

She's probably a Big Government lover, and that's what screwed over Vincent Chin and his family - Big Government.

Trump supporters love guys like Vincent Chin, because he was a fellow American.

And we don't like Big Government screwing over our fellow Americans.

Living in the days of police brutality toward black Americans

Live inside the law and the cops won't bother you. Pretty simple formula, but too many in the black community can't abide by it. Yes, there are some bad cops, just like there are good and bad people in all walks of life. Bad cops weren't the problem for Mr. Chin, however, and the only people being beaten senselessly these days are whites by (mostly) blacks, so I'm not sure what the point of this virtue-signaling mess of an article is.

Or the real story behind it and the asians’ insulting of black strippers and although on excuse, the pending domination of Asian cars over American and the fact that most of these guys were or were gonna be out of work soon.

Context ALWAYS matters to the left.

Then it should matter to the right also.

“Through a plea bargain, the charges against Ebens and Nitz were reduced from second-degree murder to manslaughter.”

Whoever offered a plea bargain in a murder that was witnessed by a police officer should be disbarred.

So, in that context, it was right to bludgeon and kill an Asian American because of mistaken identity? I’m afraid, in your zeal to defend America from charges of being a racist country (which it is not), you forget that racists DO exist here.

Here’s a bit of the other side of the story. This wasn’t racial and it wasn’t a hate crime.

I would be more shocked if the white men were brought to justice for the slaying of the Asian man. This is how the America I know has conditioned me.

Oh, so "America" is to blame for your bigotry. Got it. Cuz heaven knows, white men never go to prison.

Living in the days of police brutality toward black Americans, the Muslim ban, and Asian-American hate crimes on the rise, Vincent Chin’s case is a gut-wrenching reminder of how far we have not come.

Yep. These things happen by the hundreds every day. Why, a peaceful muslime (now THERE'S a contradiction in terms!) can't even buy a quality machete these days without someone wondering if it'll be used for a beheadin'.

America's just a seethin' pot o' hate and injustice, ain't it?

>>>With Trump demonizing Muslims, Mexicans, and China, the cultural climate that created Ebens and Nitz’s rage seems to be repeating itself – if on a grander scale. More than anti-Japanese sentiment in Detroit because of the struggling American auto industry, the climate we live in today sees foreigners as a threat to making America great. There’s a brand of vengeful patriotism emboldening certain citizens.

And looking at the cases of black Americans like Philando Castile, Jordan Edwards, and Michael Brown, being the wrong race at the wrong time is still a danger in America. Whereas Chin’s case was alarming to the Asian-American community, the black community in America has no choice but to live with such fear<<<

I was reading along being educated about a terrible miscarriage of Justice I never heard of, then the Author had to go and ruin it.

He uses the Victim of this Crime as an excuse to attack White People, especially POTUS Trump Supporters. What a weak minded Propagandist feeding his slander to an even weaker minded segment of Society.

Having served on a jury, any random selection of a dozen people will net a few idiots. And there is no guarantee that any of the non-idiots will have the leadership and salesmanship skills to get the idiots to do the right thing.

[Here’s a bit of the other side of the story. This wasn’t racial and it wasn’t a hate crime.]

The issue isn’t really whether it was a “hate” crime. Manslaughter is by definition not a love crime. The issue is whether this guy really felt sorry, or whether he was merely resentful that everyone else made such a big deal over this little misstep of his. Someone who really felt sorry would have contributed more than the $3,000 he actually did to the deceased’s mother. His stepson certainly did. Bottom line is that Ebens is a murderer and pathological liar who should have spent some time in prison.

While the core of the story involves a shocking miscarriage of justice, the author is basically a professional grievance monger who has hijacked an unrelated case to make a bigger, spurious point. If the Vincent Chin case was so typical, it wouldn’t have be trotted out almost 40 years later. There would be new, fresh outrages. The fact is that none of the so-called victims that she has highlighted is anything like Vincent Chin. Unlike Chin, all were habitual miscreants of one kind or another, before they provoked the confrontations that led to their undoing. If Chin’s long-gone mother had lived to hear of this essay, she’d probably have cussed the author out, for associating her son with the black thugs who got what was coming to them.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't it a democrat President who actually rounded up Asians in America and put them into actual camps?

But Trump is to blame for all the world's woes.......
