Drudge Report is sludge

Conservatives are now writing publicly what they had been saying privately: Matt Drudge has sold out.

The latest to go public is Blaine Traber, who wrote, "Three reasons the Drudge Report is awful."

Contrary to popular belief, it’s not conservative They love mainstream media sources The site is quietly becoming anti-Trump

Traber is correct. What a sad, sad end to a promising web site.

The Drudge Report broke the Monica Lewinsky story that Newsweek spiked.

But that was 21 years ago. In the 21st century, the Drudge Report is strictly establishment. Like George Will and Bill Kristol, Drudge has become an acceptable conservative, which means he is no conservative at all.

He no longer sets the agenda. Instead he just lets the New York Times, Washington Post and Wall Street Journal decide what is news. He is setting the clock back to 1998.

Or trying to.

Consider the Gibson Bakery case. A jury awarded the bakery $11 million in actual damages and $33 million in punitive damages after Oberlin smeared it as racist.

Conservatives rejoice.

The big fat rich cats at one of the most liberal schools in the universe just got spanked.

Matt Drudge has not linked one story to the verdict. Not one. I have been waiting for him to do so. Maybe when the New York Times spins the story he will.

Traber wrote, "There are alternatives for conservatives who are tired of Drudge Report’s shifting perspectives. This is no longer a conservative news source. Perhaps it never really was. Today, it’s as anti-Trump as they come."

Indeed there are alternatives.

Lucianne.com is a favorite. I have been an L-Dotter longer than I have been blogging, and I started blogging in 2005.

What Finger News is about to celebrate its first anniversary, I believe. It has come on like gangbusters. And in August, Instapundit will celebrate its 18th anniversary. It remains the guiding light of centrist and right-wing blogs.

Free Republic is still out there. Liberty Daily, too. Those are just the ones off the top of my head.

Matt Drudge can do what he wants. This is America. But like the mainstream media he now mimics, he has lost tons of credibility.

Use “Brave” browser.

Go into settings and restrict ads and other BS.

Voila no ads. Just a clean site full of news and info.

Watch out for LibertyDaily - I tried it once, clicked on what looked like a legit article and got a browser hijack. Took over FF with a message saying I needed to “call Microsoft” (riiight) to unlock things. Fortunately, a complete reboot (nothing else worked) got things back to normal.

Also not a fan of the sneering way they write some of their headlines. The Dems give us enough raw material to work with..people don’t need to stoop to their level to report on it.

I use TheLibertyDaily.com all the time with the Brave.com browser which does a great job of blocking those weird ads. As a matter of fact Brave is my browser of choice.

Also I like https://www.citizenfreepress.com/ which is somewhat similar to TheLiberty Daily and Drudge, but without ads.

I quit bothering with Drudge a while back, got sick of it refreshing itself every couple of minutes, then I had to scroll down and find my place again...

I still watch Breitbart, Newsbusters and occasionally a few other sites like American Thinker and Conservative Treehouse.

Just found Uncle Sam's Misguided Children, seems to be pretty decent. They say "exposing media bias"...I'll have to look it over a few times, but they do have one interesting story now about a guy who tried to kidnap the wrong girl and grandma & grandpa stopped him, then he fought 8 cops...just his picture is worth taking a look...reminds me of thee story about a guy who broke into his neighbor's house, (England I think), older fella, with a knife and found out the hard way his intended victim was a retired professional boxer and a hand to hand combat instructor...it didn't end well...I think I have a meme somewhere...

Had a show on Newsmax until they handed him a script, during Trump's first campaign, he refused to read their script and did his usual self written monologue, they pulled the plug after a couple of minutes while he was on the air...always a strong Trump supporter, usually has fairly good articles on his site too.

Exactly the reason he lost me when this began. No longer visit and it was once a daily look. No time or patience to find what might have been missed/added at refreshment time.
Gave Drudge his hat off the rack and showed him the door; relying on others here to share important information. They’ve not let me down.

Liberty Daily has promise but has become almost impossible to read due to 40 word sentences and jammed-together text...agree that it is also too cutesy with its nicknaming and sophomoric insults...they appear to assume that conservatives are all unlettered, unthinking, intolerant, and prepared for war with anybody...not true...instapundit is my favorite, could not operate without free republic, and real clear politics gives you an idea of what the other side is saying...gateway pundit and sundance break stories and go in-depth, while daily caller must be a great irritant to the left but is principally libertarian.

The Liberty Daily site is such a mess of intrusive ads that I cannot stomach looking at the page. I tried, believe me, I tried. I successfully used an ad blocker for a while. But they changed things enough that even the ad blockers no longer come close to making it readable. Been 6 months since I visited and I won't go there again.
