Hopefully he knew Jesus....often we hear of a man’s last breathe being “Jesus, save me”.
Hero by virtue of selfless action.
Every teen and adult ought to be trained in basic water rescue.
No one knows if this guy was even a good swimmer. Not everyone just floats when they get in water.
I see plenty of moms doing very stupid things too. For example, walking across busy streets here in NYC with their kids while texting, not even checking for cars. Light was green when they started, so, in their little heads, no need to worry about anything. Or letting their kids run and play on Subway platforms. Texting while driving with kids in the car (way more often than men doing it).
I think I would have gone onto my back in the water and laid the child length wise across my abdomen while holding it with my left arm, and swimming with my right arm and legs to shore, or wherever I could get to quickly.
At least on your back you can always breathe, and the air in your chest will help you remain afloat.
Dunno if that would have worked, but that would have been my plan.
Phones seem to be where moms fail. I’ve read that lifeguards say that moms looking at their phones cause a lot of incidences at swimming pools.
AFA texting goes though, lots of guys text and drive. I’ve been hit by 2 of them. Fortunately they didn’t have kids with them.
How sad.
Every Fathers’ Day now will be a reminder of this dad’s strong love for his kid. Even though the kid was just 3, he/she may develop guilt issues down the road over what happened.
