FAVORITE CABLE & TV SPY SERIES SHOWS
Vanity | 06-15-2019 | Captain Peter Blood

Posted on 06/15/2019 11:40:40 AM PDT by Captain Peter Blood

Of late I have been watching what I consider to be some pretty good spy shows. So I am going to list them.

I have ROKU and most of these I found available on streaming channels.

Epix Channel:

Here is found two really good shows worth watching:

"Berlin Station" series set in modern Berlin of the CIA station there.

"Deep State": Modern day spy series set in the U.S., England, and the Middle East. The plot is pretty believable and concerns the Military Industrial Complex.

On Showtime I have been binge watching "Homeland". Great show and plot, I have just finished watching the first two seasons and have been riveted. It is my understanding the last couple of seasons got a little to PC and such.

On Amazon I found a real jewel called "The Game". It is a period spy series set in the 1970's England and concerns a hunt for a mole in MI5. The actors are great and story very well done.

There is another one I found on Amazon to buy called "Counterpart" that is on the Starz channel. It's about a hapless UN employee who discovers the agency he works for is hiding a gateway to a parallel dimension that's in Cold War with our own, and where his other self is a top spy. The war slowly heats up thanks to spies from both sides.

Person of Interest, with Jim Caviziel, is also good.

Agreed on Burn Notice.

There’s a shot of a hot chick at least every 5 minutes. Fiona really isn’t too shabby herself, but she could use a few pounds.

“The Professionals” (British, 1977-1983)

Bodie & Doyle were the ones.

Agree with “Turn”. I only watched bits and pieces of it but it was really good and historical. I need to go back in and watch again.

Americans is excellent as well.

It has been accurately pointed out that “Burn Notice” has gratuitous bikini shots but in its defense was set and shot in Miami.

Versailles is still on? Good! I left off at the end of season one and just lost track.

Also, The Americans was a very good series.

My favorites are La Fem Nikita (Peta Wilson version), The Avengers, and my guilty pleasure was Lancelot Link, Secret Chimp. I am sure there are others that I have long forgotten.

Danger Man/The Prisoner. I always conflate the two shows, although there are those who say I shouldn’t.

I recently watched the series “The Enemy Within” a NBC network series. Watched it on demand. Thought it pretty good.

Loved the Americans. Wife is Russian ex-pat and I tease her that she is a deep cover spy that failed because she chose me as her target. Also starting to get into Hanna on Amazon Prime. Loved the movie.

Most of them are basically propaganda, making sure we all understand how the intelligence community keeps us safe.
Those kind of programs have sprouted up like mushrooms as the National Security state has exploded.
All part of that silly, “if we could only know what they did” mentality.

But I guess if I had to pick it would be Colonel Flagg from MASH.

The Americans was very good, although I really wanted to see Elizabeth’s face when the Soviet Union collapsed and the Berlin Wall came down. She was such a dead ender.
