Our 'Greeneyes' has been FOUND, but she is STILL having computer issues, so I have been asked to keep the Weekly Garden Thread rolling until she returns.
That said, I will be posting once a week, and I will TRY to stick to her schedule of a Friday Night/Saturday Morning Weekly Post, but it depends upon what is going on here at MY farm. (It's Spring; it's BUSY!)
The Weekly Gardening Thread is a weekly gathering of folks that love soil, seeds and plants of all kinds. From complete newbies that are looking to start that first potted plant, to gardeners with some acreage, to Master Gardener level and beyond, we would love to hear from you.
This thread is non-political, although you will find that most here are conservative folks. No matter what, you won’t be flamed and the only dumb question is the one that isn’t asked.
It is impossible to hijack the Weekly Gardening Thread. Planting, Harvest to Table Recipes, Preserving, Good Living - there is no telling where it will go and... that is part of the fun and interest. Jump in and join us!

Pokeweed is toxic in sufficient quantities, but medicinal in smaller amounts. It’s good at clearing blockages in the lymphatic and endocrine systems, and thins down lymphatic fluid so it flows more easily. It also moderates the immune system, which helps with autoimmune disorders. I use the root in the herbal tinctures I take daily.
That said, it’s invasive enough that It’s best to stay on top of it!

Getting plenty of rain; the weeds love it!
Miraculously, potatoes continue to pop-up, after over 6 weeks in the ground, followed by several inches of snow TWICE; and a hard freeze. I found nearly 25 at last count.
Also, some beets and carrots planted at the same time as the spuds are now sprouting; naturally, I had replanted a bit over a week ago in another area.
Two or three volunteer squash are coming up where 3 varieties of 2 types were planted last year, so no idea whether they’re winter or summer, let alone variety. Probably mongrels of some sort.
Peas have taken advantage of rain and cool temps to take off.
Dayglored is having problems gardening in Upstate NY due to all of the rain this season. He needs our help!

That first picture is a classic! Love seeing one of Lady Bender’s pies, you lucky dog. The wild black raspberrys should be big this year - lots of rain. I would love to bake at least one pie, it’s been years.
Hubby made 5 capicolas this winter. Loving it many ways. Minced fine in salads is one. Better than bacon.
Central Missouri received more rainfall over the past week, but the Missouri River is finally starting to drop in spite of the rain.
My tomato plants are taking off nicely after their late start. Mrs. Augie’s cucumber plants are doing well. I planted another row of cucumber from seed. Still haven’t managed to get the collards and kale seeded. Rain coming every two or three days has made it very difficult for me to get things done in the garden.
Peaches, apples, and pears are sizing up.
The new terraced planter bed by the front steps has been filled up with dirt and compost. Just needs plants added.

Rhubarb pie at my house yesterday! One of my kids brought rhubarb wine along too.
