Warriors confirm Klay Thompson tears ACL
NBC Sports ^ | June 14, 2019 | Dan Feldman

The Warriors already had enough players bolstering their legacies by playing through injury in these NBA Finals – a terrible price to pay. Kevin Durant already did it. Klay Thompson already did it. Now, Thompson has done it again. Thompson was “Game 6 Klay” at his finest Thursday. He scored 30 points on 12 shots and played smothering defense. At +5, he was the only Golden State starter with a positive plus-minus.

Thompson is a free agent. The Warriors should attempt to resign both him and Durant, tank the 2019-2020 season by resting Curry, and reload by earning a lottery pick. The Admiral David Robinson had a season long injury leading to the Spurs "earning" the top pick and drafting Tim Duncan and the result was more rings for San Antonio.

Resting Curry?

That’d go over well.

I am afraid that this series has ruined the Warriors. Clay will come back, ACLs happen all the time. Durant will probably never be the same.

My daughter had 2 ACL surgeries on the same knee and is better than ever. The key is a great surgeon and slow PT.It was impossible keeping her out of the ocean waves in the summer but she listened and her knee is strong. She is a horse rider and really pushes that knee.Good luck but it is possible.

Agreed. He’s the only prominent Warrior who doesn’t annoy the heck out of me.

Warriors have played in the last 5 NBA Finals. Not too shabby. Every year is a new set of dynamics. No team stays on top forever. Too bad on the injuries but they are paid fortunes of $$$.

In a cold, Steinbrenner-ish way, the Warriors could also let both Thompson and Durant go, sign a couple of the top free agents, and be right back on top next year.

I have always liked Klay Thompson. He isn't the star of the team but is an incredible basketball player. In this series, though, I was rooting for the Raptors. Leonard is probably my favorite all time player b/c he just quietly goes about business and that business is exceptional. I also get tired of the same teams winning championships year after year.

I don't have anything against the Warriors- Steve Kerr seems like a good guy, Curry, Thompson, Durant, even Green- I was just tired of them. Curry walking around with his mouthguard hanging out all the time is really starting to bug me.

And, yes, I know, I have read the comments here about the political leanings of some of these guys. I am referring only to basketball. If I refused to watch players that were liberals, I would have to give up sports and I'm not willing to do that.

All good things come to an end.

But Golden State’s time is done.

I expected this response from Freepers. As I said, I am not judging the Warriors based on their political leanings. Just trying to enjoy pure sport.

he was probably the difference for game 6. he was in pain, he was injured, but no, he couldn't stop! still free throws to shoot! runs back to the court on a torn ACL!

The West is tough. Golden State had their era. Now it’s over. Maybe they can make to the playoffs for the next couple of years but their run is finished.

The Bucks will be the team to beat for the foreseeable future.

Steve Kerr was fine until he mentioned he hated Trump. Doing that, he alienated his fans. Although to be fair, he’s in San Francisco where only 5% of his fans voted for Trump.

I can get behind Greek Freak. He seems like a great fella. Playing in a small market but he’s still very happy in what America has to offer him.

The new NBA lottery rules make it much tougher to tank and get the No. 1 pick. Tanking probably only guarantees a top five pick now.
