Four more men have been arrested in the Dominican Republic for the shooting of David 'Big Papi' Ortiz and four other suspects remain at large, wanted for the murder-for-hire plot that they were offered $7,800 to carry out.
The men - some of whom are wanted for crimes in the US - were named at a press conference in Santo Domingo where officials also held up the gun used to shoot Ortiz, 43, in the back.
Police would not confirm a motive but they said the men were offered $7,800 for the attack, the equivalent of 400,000 pesos.
That was put on Ortiz's head by an as-yet unnamed person.

This whole crime case is getting stranger by the day.
Sorry, but this is strange. Why would someone want him dead? Is it just personal?
Me suspects there is a bit more to Big Papi than all his NE lovers here are in on.
I will bet that there is some kind of Drug Dealing Revenge motive involved in this.
One thing is certain - David Ortiz should never visit the Dominican Republic again.
Dominicans just doing the crimes Americans are too lazy to do.
This story is Ortiz was cheating on his wife with the wife of a Dominican drug lord. The drug king pi ordered the hit. There is a video out there capturing the lover breaking down when she saw Ortiz at the Dominican hospital.
Someone here yesterday was talking about a married woman and a husband’s revenge, but who knows....
Ah, it was you. Thanks.
Called it.
Well, generally. I was thinking it was more direct involvement in drugs.
All that love the other day, rather misplaced.
Big Papi let Little Papi do the thinking...
Did they have a tuna sub and MAGA hats?
The Dominican Republic:
Home of pistoleros and bleach cocktails.
Oh, and hour-long hotel beatings.
It was a case of mistaken identity. Venus and Serena Williams were reported fleeing the scene:
With all the tourist deaths, no one should visit the DR ever again.
How’d she compare with Tiffany Ortiz?
The drug king pin ordered the hit.
One shot in the back. Wasn’t much of a “hit.”
