Tourists visiting the Willis Tower SkyDeck in Chicago were left horrified when the protective layer of the attractions glass ledge cracked.
The terrifying incident happened Monday on the Towers 103rd floor, which is the location of the deck that gives visitors a panoramic view of not only Chicago but also Lake Michigan and parts of Indiana.
Visitors are encouraged to stand on the decks ledge so that when they look down they can see the city below them.

I’ll stay in the lobby and wait for you to tell me all about it.
I get a nose bleed on a step ladder.
YIKES

Officially, it is "Willis Tower" since Sears lost the title. But it will always be known as "Sears Tower" because they built it.
Sort of like the far less impressive US Steel Tower here in Pittsburgh. I don't think US Steel even has an office there anymore. It is mostly a collection of high price lawyers.

The glass didn’t crack; only a coating on the glass. Not a safety issue.

Yes habits calling something something are hard to break when they get renamed.

In Dallas, the Republic Bank complex went through several names after the bank merged and then failed. The current owners finally gave up, and renamed it “Republic Tower”.

Perhaps, but who knew that it was just a protective coating AT THAT TIME???? I’m surprised no one had a heart attack

It was finshed in 1973 as Sears Tower and remained thus until 2009 when it was leased by Willis Group. I walked by it everyday going to work and I (along with just about everyone else) will always know it as the Sears tower. It is taller than original WTC.

Texans are smart. Republic has a nice ring to it anyway, despite being associated with a failed bank once upon a time.

Stay off the glass.
A few years back, a glass ‘floor’ above the Shark Tank in New Orleans Audubon Aquarium broke, sending tourists into the water..............
