Today’s Cryptogram

FIFAD OCOFKE CB SPZME NKV VNAG PT N OPANRSF.---LNSE LMPEONK

Today’s CG is courtesy of the Arkansas Gazette.

You can find this little fun word game, to combat early dementia and senility in us baby boomers, in several daily publications.

The way it works is a letter stands for another letter. For example: AXYDLBAAXR is LONGFELLOW (does not apply to today's cryptogram).

Beware, the game is very addictive. If this is your first time, don't be intimidated.

PLEASE DO NOT post the answer in general comments, but DO post your time and any tips you might give the group on how you solve these puzzles as puzzle solvers love to hear how you made out.

You can certainly send your solution to my private reply, or if you need a hint for today’s Cryptogram.

If you're just starting out on these, be patient, as you'll be proficient in no time.

If you need a little help you can copy the cryptogram and paste it to Hal’s Helper below:

You can then work on the puzzle without using pen and paper.

4 1/2 min. Started with 1 letter word, then first word that had familiar pattern. Finished rest of quote by trying words that fit sentence structure.

7 minutes which includes letting the dog out and feeding the cat.
Guessed the one letter word, fiddled with the three and two letter words. Filled the second word based on the letter positions but there was one extra spot to fill. Hm. I took MY second word, placed it in the first word spot... and the puzzle became brighter.

About two hours. I had what I thought was the first word and the one-letter word, but the quote wasn't making sense. I stuck with the first word (which was correct) and kept plugging away at it until I got the second word, and then it began to fall into place.

If I’m stumped, I’ll walk away and come back and sometimes it opens up. Otherwise I’ll bring in Hal....

I notice that when I’m stumped that I’ll plug in “E” in the most frequent letter slot.

Quick One today because of paired opposite words and the repeat in the first word. 3 min.
