Reagan did that as part of an overall immigration plan that was to secure the border and strictly enforce immigration laws. Of course the dims refused the enforcement part, used the strict laws as an excuse for not enforcing.

We would not be here today if the dims had not gone back on their agreements. That immigration plan was to stop new illegal immigration and give amnesty to those here, a solution. We did not get a solution we got suckered.

We got suckered again on the Secure Fence Act that turned into a huge scam on taxpayers. Only about 40 miles of secure fence was built, Congress redid the agreement to allow different types of fencing (mostly worthless vehicle barrier) and then cut funding that was promised.

The only deal I am interested in now is BUILD THE WALL people need to come in legally or not at all. Enforce immigration laws! DEPORT!
