I love the races. I do go to the track occasionally. Yes, it’s fun.
Small wagers — the minimum is $2. As my wife says, it gives you a rooting interest.
Tip — After reading the form charts in the program, go down to the paddock and watch the horses. The form chart will tell you how the horse has done, which is useful information, but watching them gives you a better idea of how the horse looks today. Now. Which is when this race is being run.
Just make sure you get to the parimutuel window before post time so you can put down your $2.
I’d just watch a few races (hang around some “horse people”) before betting. Get a feel for it. The first race I ever put money on was the fourth race of the day. He was a 17-1 shot and he won for me.
Wow.
Sounds like a fun day.
I’m a degenerate so I won’t walk away with anything :)
But if I could have a few laughs at 1/10 the cost of a casino, it sounds worth it
Thanks for the tips
When I was a kid, I was at a casino with some adults. I found a penny on the floor, and put it in a slot machine. Got two pennies out of it, and was thrilled. ( this was years and years ago, when a penny meant something to a kid) I put the two pennies in the slot machine, and lost them both. I was devastated! But that was the ending of my betting forever!!
