Chinese warships collect baby formula in Australia
Chinese warships that docked unexpectedly at an Australian port departed with a cargo of baby formula, local media discovered.
The arrival of a trio of Chinese ships, including an amphibious assault vessel, set off alarm bells on Monday morning among Australian citizens who did not have advance notice of the visit and analysts who regarded it as a show of force. But the trip also highlighted Chinas vulnerabilities, as Chinese sailors were photographed loading baby formula onto the ships before they departed.
What some Chinese colleagues were saying about realistic socialism as true state of affairs in their country, and best epitomized here: advanced warships that project the States might while sailors cope with tainted food products back home, Collin Koh, a research fellow at the Institute of Defense and Strategic Studies in Singapore, commented in a Friday night tweet.

I find it hard to imagine that things are that bad in China. If they are I cant see Chinas government lasting much longer.
Now that is damn funny. Coffee spewing funny ... wipes monitor.
Buying local produced products and taking it back to the ship is normal behavior for sailors from all nations.
Do the sailors even have women? I hear that there is a severe shortage of women in China.
How do we know what was in the boxes? Just because the boxes are labeled? Could be anything.
What I make of it is this was a dry run. It should be an embarrassment to the Aussies that they would allow 3 Chinese warships to dock willy nilly.
I think it is more likely that the products will be resold at home at a great profit. I would be surprised if all they got was baby formula.
“In HK tourist are only allowed to take 2 cans of powdered formula back.”
I’ve seen some YouTube videos of people buying in HK and taking their purchases back to the PRC.
Within sight of the border guards they would hand their purchases over to the “collectors” who would pay them their cut. By end of day the collectors would end up with dozens of cases of baby formula and chocolate.
One video followed an older couple who went to three different stores, each buying their 2 cans of formula at each store. Probably a nice addition to their income.
Directing traffic to paywall blogs — that’s low. I guess you have a revenue stream to fill, and FreeRepublic readers be damned.
I wish you bad luck.
So with that, AND THE HORSE YOU RODE IN ON!
That is a very good possibility.
I would guess that they might have token female officers on some ships.
That is true, as I have purchased things while on ACDUTRA to bring home. What is lacking is how often do warships pull into an Australian port so that their sailors can purchase baby food. If this happens frequently, then I guess it is a combination of personal use and black market income. If it’s not very often it points to something maybe more ominous.
Nobody cares about your blog
I am not a blog pimp.
Fine with me because I DON’T HAVE A BLOG!
I agree. I meant that in a parliamentary sense that a new government would be formed under the same system.
The lesson to be learned from Gorbachev is that totalitarian governments only fall from within when a ruler comes to power that wishes to be less brutal.
Wrong country, wrong lesson. In China, a brutal leader is often succeeded by an even more brutal leader. Even seemingly “nice” guys like Deng Yingchao had their moments - see Tiananmen Square
How cute.
He wants to be baby Humblegunner.
