Why Marijuana Should Remain Illegal

What are the facts about recreational marijuana?  Are you sure pot is harmless?  And should it be legal?

While the multi-billion dollar marijuana lobby insists that cannabis is harmless, more and more researchers and medical professionals are reaching a different conclusion.

Based on facts and up-to-date science, this post will help you cut through the fog of misinformation and discover what recreational marijuana is doing to disrupt and destroy the moral and social fabric of America.

1. Marijuana Intoxication Warps Reality

Marijuana is a form of intoxication. Anyone who becomes intoxicated surrenders their ability to make sound moral decisions.  Free will is either compromised or lost for a period of time.

However, people see this intoxication as a means to escape from reality.  Pop culture worships immediate pleasure so much that it prods us to give up our most noble faculty -- reason -- in exchange for a mind-numbing "experience."  Some people even risk their lives for a fleeting sensation of pleasure or excitement.

Drug abuse holds sectors of America hostage.  According to the National Center for Health Statistics, 192 families per day lost someone to a drug overdose in 2017.[1]  That’s the same as a plane crash a day in the U.S.

“6. Marijuana Destroys Mental Health”

...all too slowly. The process should be quickened and much intensified, so we can soon solve the problem in a much simpler and more efficient way.

Thank You NobleFree.

Because prohibition was working so good several states decided to stop doing it.

You claimed a causal relationship between mj and schizophrenia and said it is a big contributor.

Dr. Blaylock does a monthly news letter on health issues that I subscribe to. Recently, the topic was mj. Medical research shows that youth under 18 that use mj have a higher incidence of schizophrenia because of that use when their brain was developing. (and there is additional risk if it is used under the age of 27).

It is stated that even if it is used and then stopped, the damage remains. Several references are given to support this hypothesis.

KEY POINTS: Most disturbing effects of Marijuana use are schizophrenia and psychosis.

The article quotes a study that suggest that about 13% of diagnosed schizophrenia is due to marijuana use by adolescents.

No studies in your screen shot - just a lot of hysterical nonsense.

Medical research shows

Your screen shot includes no citations for these studies - and I'm not inclined to take the word of a newsletter than froths about marijuana's "destruction of civilized society itself." LOL! Human sacrifice, dogs and cats living together, mass hysteria!

There are no illegal drugs in America.
That would be unconstitutional. See repeal of 18th Amendment. Same premise.

There are, however, controlled substances in America through The Controlled Substance Act.
An end run around the Constitution, IMO.

I understand prohibition of substances like meth...extremely dangerous.

If pot is such a big factor in causing schizophrenia, how is it that the US has one of the lowest rates in the world?

I like this solid piece by Hillsdale:

https://imprimis.hillsdale.edu/marijuana-mental-illness-violence/?utm_source=facebook&utm_medium=paid+&utm_campaign=Imprimis+Article+-+Medical+Marijuana&utm_content=04212019&fbclid=IwAR0O3wxkYTbnWfUfT03DeFly3P4ZSt2JNsUaiAWduaCMQmxVIr4tlrcYpBA

Really sums up my opinions and is thorough and scholarly.

I have never seen anyone who continued smoking pot for more than a few years turn out “well,”. They always go downhill spiritually, morally, cognitively and health wise if they keep it up.

I mean never. Yes that’s anecdotal.

From your link:

“Nor do any of these studies prove that rising cannabis use has caused population-wide increases in psychosis or other mental illness.”

<Might as well outlaw alcohol too - overindulgence causes many diseases and wet brains to boot....it kills more people and ruins more families than pot ever could.

The prohibitionist on the right need to stop trying to force this issue on people. It’s obviously not a federal issue, or a popular one. Marijuana is nowhere near as deadly as alcohol, regardless of how bad some want it to be. The people who defend alcohol while making weed out to be something it’s not look like foolish hypocrites. They can both be used in moderation without too many problems, but alcohol is responsible for far more deaths statistically. There are too many people who still believe everything the government tells us when it comes to certain issues, when we should be skeptical of everything that comes from the government based on everything we know.

Our government was doing all kinds of illegal and unethical experiments with LSD before demonizing it and stopping all legitimate research. It's no coincidence that the 60’s counter culture movement used LSD at a time our government was testing it on college campuses. They let opiates and other addictive drugs be prescribed while downplaying the dangers, and sent a lot of trusting patients down the road of addiction that lead many to their death. The government can’t exactly be easily trusted on any issue. We don't have to side with the people running things like project MKULTRA and Operation Midnight Climax, or the weird hippies of the 60’s the way many of us still do. Trump should support decriminalizing marijuana at the federal level, and let the states make that decision. Regardless of personal opinions, I don’t see how anyone on the right can see this as a federal issue.
