An alligator was captured in Pittsburgh's Beechview neighborhood Thursday night.
The animal was taken to the Humane Animal Rescue in Homewood.
CEO of the shelter, Dan Rossi, said the animal is not happy and is stressed out.
Rossi said officials are not sure yet if the alligator was male or female. He added the five-foot long reptile was a potential danger in the Beechview neighborhood.
He said if people can no longer care for their exotic pets, call their helpline at 412-345-7300.
This is the second alligator captured in Pittsburgh in less than a month.
Another one was found in a South Side park. Rossi said that animal was also being housed at the shelter, and will eventually head to a sanctuary in Florida.

Alligators don't understand English well, and can't tell the difference between "emotional support" and "nutritional support." Allowances must be made for them.

Well Pittsburgh's current Mayor is encouraging those types to move here...

Rossi said officials are not sure yet if the alligator was male or female. Could be a transgender 'gator. That's why it's so stressed out.
To: GreenHornet
They don’t know if it is male or female? Maybe it doesn’t identify in a binary male/female manner.

Alligators don't understand English well,
In the particular neighborhood where it was found
Spanish would have been more useful.

You have to get personal with a gator to determine its sex. Not worth it.

When I lived in Michigan in the early 90’s one wandered into some guy’s yard in Midland.
Police determined it had been brought north by Spring Breakers and grew too large for them to handle.
It was killed by the homeowner’s dog.
I’d really like to see a picture of THAT dog!

FYI, this Pittsburgh (once great center of industry, in Pennsyvania) has an “H” as the last letter.

They can put him in the river, let him go down stream, he’ll make his way to the south eventually, maybe eat some of the jumping grass carp on the way.
