Meghan Markle, the Duchess of Sussex, was a no-show at the Buckingham Palace banquet for President Trump’s state visit to England on Monday, after the president called the former American actress “nasty” in an interview with a British newspaper. Markle, who is married to Prince Harry, is on maternity leave after giving birth to their first child, Archie, earlier in May. Kate Middleton, the Duchess of Cambridge, the wife of Prince William, was in attendance at the banquet as were Trump’s adult children. The American-born Markle also missed a royal luncheon at the palace with Trump and first lady Melania Trump earlier Monday – although Harry attended.

At least the banquet was classier without Markle’s presence.

She didn’t show up because Melania would outshine her and she would have to walk behind them. Harry is p-whipped and told not to have any contact and he obeyed her instructions well. He is not the head of his own household. It’s very painfully obvious. Expect her not showing up unless she is the center of attention.

I do have a question abut her status though. IIRC, an American citizen is not allwed to accept a foreign title, except an honorary one, and she had started the process of renouncing her US citizenship. Does that also mean she is no longer part African-American but African-Anglo nee AA something or other? What does DeBretts say in this matter? Stuff gets rather confusing. ;>)
