I suspect there is some relationship between the spiritual domain and UFO observed craft.
One weakness of science and “scientists” is their desire to ignore phenomenon. In a nutshell, they seek to be ignorant.
The scientific method appeals to verifiable experimentation before accepting the truthfulness of statements.
Now consider the domain of angels, elect and fallen.
Throughout Masonry, all 3 major systems of theology accept and discuss angels (Judaism, Christianity, and Islam). We know of fallen and elect angels and are warned of the deceptive and criminal nature of the fallen angels. Much of the UFO reports are consistent with such spiritual domains.
Science refutes it as foolishness, because it is unable to reproduce their actions.
Consider a though experiment.
A man is captured outside a bank with a bag full of cash he had just robbed from the teller. He is taken to jail awaiting his hearing. When disposed before the judge, the charged villain is considered innocent until proven guilty (in a “pre-Mueller” world). The Advocate for the accused insists upon only a ‘truthful’ finding be accepted by scientific principles.
The take the accused to a movie set, give him a pistol and note to the teller instructing her to place all the cash from her till into the bag and awiat his escape before responding. They tell the accused, this is part of his hearing. If he robs the bank, then they know the charge is true and he will be found guilty. If he doesn’t rob the bank, then they won’t know of he is the robber, and he will be assumed innocent.
Now the charged villain is left to his own devices. Will he rob the bank or not?
When is doesn’t rob the bank, so as to escape condemnation, do we still believe we are intelligent in our scientific method to reproduce the event and now conclude he really isn’t such a villain as others so foolishly accuse?
This is similar to the present arguments against UFOs as not being founded in truth.
My personal opinion is that once a civilization develops space habitat technology, they cease to be planet dwellers, mining the Oort clouds of stars as they diffuse across the galaxy.
Why bother with planets??
I think we’re all “open” to the possibility, but my understanding is Dr. Hynek was a scientist, and he never found any relevant evidence that Unidentified Flying Objects were actually extraterrestrial in origin. He found more plausible evidence that sightings were more consistent with sightings of supernatural entities, based on many interviews with these who felt they had been abducted. If you have evidence to the contrary feel free to provide. Thanks.

Imagine telling a New Yorker back in the early part of the 20th century that a person will be able to have breakfast in NYC and lunch in Los Angeles on the same day. He would not be able to wrap his mind around it.
The imagination is extremely limited for a reason...for the sake of our sanity. That limitation keeps us safe in our thinking and focused on the here and now.
I have a background in mathematics. The funny thing that folks don't realize is that we--we humans--don't invent equations that explain the universe.
They already exist. They are waiting for us.
They are waiting for us to discover them.
There's a vast--VAST--world of stuff just beyond our fingertips waiting to be discovered. Stuff that will blow our minds.

Fortunately, humans are not fond of being told something is impossible.

I had one of my AF projects mentioned on the X-files once. They all thought it was alien tech, lol. I always wanted one of the geeks to set the record straight, that came from some bad ass Ohio boys.
You make my point- time is a unknown variable, so if we let T equal less than 100k years or so, then the equation ( Drakes) is untrue, it would take a T of billions ( all unobserved of course, but trillions ( around 15)) is the magic number the “settled” scientists spit out…. How convenient, utterly a speculative guesstimation but wow, it fits the narrative answering so many question arising from the “God never existed” theory.
Time or God, How much faith do folks have? The hole in the ground with people running in mindlessly clip come to mind.
Drakes equation and Fermis Paradox just touch the tip of the issue- not a single variable of Drakes is validly observed. Fermis question of “where are they, then” is telling.
Oh, yeah, the death star theory (er, I mean Dyson sphere), where aliens build shells around whole solar systems to harvest energy and hide themselves- science or fiction, George Lucas or Dr. Dyson, which came first?

We’re on a ball in a galaxy etc. etc. hurling through space at light speed with everything else moving further and further away.
I seriously doubt some green men have taken notice of us and think some green bucks can be made out of convincing people to buy books etc. on the topic of aliens. Also, it gets views and news stories..so there’s that too.

People of limited imagination are always the first to resort to blaming space aliens and/or the supernatural.
