VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (Reuters) - The gunman who killed 12 people at a Virginia Beach municipal building before dying in a gun battle with police was identified on Saturday as a disgruntled city engineer and co-worker of most of the victims. All but one of the victims from the mass shooting in the coastal resort community were employed by the city, officials said at a news conference, while the other was a contractor seeking a permit. Four people were wounded.
The gunman, DeWayne Craddock, had worked for the city’s public utilities department for about 15 years, Virginia Beach Police Chief James Cervera said at a news conference.

It’s possible, but the alleged link between SSRIs and extreme violent episodes (including suicide) generally applies to much younger people.
Understood; they’ve been dragging their feet releasing details. I understood yesterday (when family needed to be notified), but now info should be released.
I commend the local officials for refusing to attack private gun ownership (at least in the clips I’ve seen); then again, “Sic Semper Tyrannis” is on their state flag...
An atrocious crime like this needs to have a thorough accounting of the motives, background, social and family connections, etc. of this killer. No stone left unturned. The public needs to hear the entire story.
But since he’s black, a Democrat, and possibly a Muslim, the public will hear nothing more. He’s a “disgruntled employee” and a “loner”. Case closed.
