A Delaware woman who says she was severely beaten at a resort is telling her story in public for the first time. Tammy Lawrence-Daley says in January, she was attacked by a stranger inside the resort where she was staying in the Dominican Republic.
"It's very difficult, very difficult reliving," Lawrence-Daley said. "I could hear footfalls behind me. And before I could turn around, he plowed into the back of me."
Tammy Lawrence-Daley was on vacation with her husband at the Majestic Elegance Resort in the Dominican Republic when she says she went downstairs alone one night in search of a snack. Then the man attacked her.
The man, Lawrence-Daley says, was wearing a resort uniform. She tried to fight him off, but after he strangled her she lost consciousness.
"When I came to, it was to him beating me," Lawrence-Daley said. "About the head. Kicking me and beating me."
It was hours before people at the resort found her in an underground crawl space. She was brought to the hospital with severe facial injuries. After months of physical and emotional recovery she says she is finally sharing her story as a warning to others.

We were at Casa De Campo in 88....A beautiful resort...We only ventured to Santo Domingo once...it was nice but the resort was safe,fun and no need to venture elsewhere.....

I have another friend who was there in February. However, they were bare boating. He stated about 50% of the business were open. If they had money they had been repaired. If they did not have much money, they were still in disrepair.
He ate at the Sugar Mill and Smugglers Cove. He also said Foxy’s and the Soggy Dollar Bar were all open. He never mentioned Bomba’s Shack.
I am surprised to hear that about Peter Island. It was owned by Amway. I would think they would have plenty of money and insurance to make repairs.
Pot was there 20 years ago. That never really bothered me. I was mostly referring to drug trafficking of cocaine and other hard drugs that go through other Caribbean islands. Anything stronger than pot and could end up in the prison that they built in 1600.
As far as half destroyed houses. That does not surprise me. People down there do not have flood, wind and home owners insurance like we do. Many do not have enough money to paint their house the same color on all four sides.
I am surprised by tourist scams. The BVI’s depend on tourist income and off shore banking. That is it. It you scam your customers, you are going to kill your revenue stream. I am surprised the government allows it.
Where did you stay? Which island? Did you rent a boat?
In this particular case the missing elements rightly draw suspicion of motive.
Look at all of the pictures in the link below and tell me that on the second day of her trip with her husband she was sneaking out to betray her marriage. You may think most married women are like most male cheaters, but they are not:
Explain to me how her husband still trusts and defends her and is willing to come out publicly to defend her and demand justice if there was any true suspicion that she was a cheater? From the photos in the link just above, does he look like a wimp to you?
Why are you complete strangers who think of yourselves as conservatives so willing to defend a random male thug/rapist from an impoverished foreign country rather than simply keep an open mind that this American woman may indeed be telling the truth?
Do you think she got to the age of 40+ by being a sneak and a liar, by the looks of her photos, which show an open, happy, trusting expression? Is she dressed seductively? No. Is she making a duck face in the photos? No. Is she wearing a ton of makeup? No.
But sight unseen as of the original post, people here on FR immediately think her motives are suspect or even extramarital, and that she is lying because why—the poor journalism is somehow her fault? I'm embarrassed for you that you think of yourselves as conservatives.

The common theme in all of them were flimsy stories with no evidence, hinging entirely on the woman’s claims.

We went to an all inclusive in Jamaica a few years ago. Got hooked up with a group for a “takeover” meaning we had the entire resort. The staff was amazing and really liked this group.
The group asked us to put together a backpack full of school supplies for the children of the workers as well as a donation to pay for a year of High School for a scholarship winner. We happily complied.
I should explain that public school in Jamaica is only “free” through 8th grade.
At the end of the week there was a ceremony where the goods were distributed and the winner of the scholarship announced. As chance would have it enough money was raised to put not just one but 3 kids through 4 years of High School. So the 2nd and 3rd place kids also won. Many of the staff were in tears at the generosity. There were hugs and more expressions of thanks than we could count.
I won’t name the resort as many here would frown upon it I’m sure. But for Mrs. L and I it was the best vacation we ever had. We would go back in a heartbeat.

Go ahead; just lump a decent-looking married woman in with all the deranged drug-abusing leftists on campuses, in blue states and in Hollywood; when all the actual statistics of the behavior of most married women is far, far from the lies you attributed to this one. But a man’s opinion, no matter how carelessly UNinformed, must never be questioned.

I'm making the point because lumping people together based on suspicions is antithetical to conservatism, which values individual liberties and rejects the stereotyping of people. Conservatives believe in "innocent until proven guilty." Conservatives understand that journalism has gone down the drain in this country alone; and this story originated in a third-world country; but rather than criticize the reporting, you defaulted to "she's up to no good."
