Ald. Edward Burke indicted on expanded federal racketeering, bribery charges

“As far as I’m concerned, they can go f--- themselves,” Burke told Ald. Daniel Solis, who was working undercover for the FBI and secretly recording the conversation, according to a sweeping federal racketeering indictment filed Thursday against Burke.

When Solis noted the developers would soon be before Burke’s Finance Committee requesting $100 million in tax-increment financing for the massive project, Burke responded, “Well, good luck getting it on the agenda,” the indictment alleged.

In addition to the attempted extortion of the Post Office developers, the 14-count indictment accused Burke — the city’s longest-serving alderman and a vestige of the old Democratic machine — of trying to muscle developers of two smaller projects into hiring his law firm as well.

Last August, Burke entered into a contract for legal services with an affiliate of the developer that would pay Burke’s law firm at least $15,000 a year from 2018 through 2020, according to the indictment.

I’m sorry, but we are going to have to start hanging thieves.

There are too many of them and they aren’t afraid of prison.

Democrat lawyer.

We will need to get a new contract for rope manufacturing since we do not have enough to even begin to dent the current crop of thieving democrats. Maybe we could be environmentally wise and recycle the rope. I would be carful to ensure that it not fail.

I’m not certain that we have enough manufacturing capacity for rope anymore; it will need to be imported from China.

I wonder what Lenin would think about this, given the famous quote attributed to him.

this could get good. He knows where every corpse and I mean every sleazy deal going back to JFK is buried. You don’t get that far without many insurance policies. Wonder when the bidding will start for immunity
