laus von Bülow, who has died aged 92, was the central figure in one of the most sensational trials of the 20th century.

The case, among the first to be televised in the United States, had all the ingredients of soap opera — adultery, drugs, murder and fabulous sums of money. Its principal characters included the heiress to a $75 million fortune, a wicked stepfather, two mistresses, minor European nobility and a daughter who stood by the father accused of attempting to kill her mother.

That was a huge, huge scandal some twenty plus years ago.
This was only eclipsed by the Jon Benet Ramsey tragedy a short time later. Both of these cases would have gotten stratospheric levels of attention had they occurred after the Internet came out.

Yes. And living at the time in New England, I read about for months on end. And thinking back on it, I always suspected he ‘euthanized’ her. Glad he’s gone......sometimes evil lives too long.

Wow. My sense of time has changed as I’ve gotten older.
It doesn’t seem that long, but it is.

I saw a pretty good movie about it in the 80s...particularly interesting was the character who
played Derschowitz; for the life of me I can’t remember
the name of the movie nor who was in it.

At the trial in Newport, Bülow was found guilty and sentenced to 30 years in prison;[15][21] he appealed, hiring Harvard Law Professor Alan Dershowitz to represent him.

In the early ‘80s, National Lampoon did a piece on “Children’s Letters to Santa Claus von Bulow”.

Ron Silver, a big lib who turned conservative thanks to Giuliani's revitalization of NYC. Also a friend of Ann Coulters.
