A wild raccoon dog has been terrorizing a U.K. village, terrifying locals and attacking pets.
SWNS reports that police were called to Clarborough in Nottinghamshire this week after some residents were subjected to a two-hour standoff with the strange-looking animal.
Villager Mandy Marsh was woken by a blood-curdling scream early on Tuesday morning and her husband Dale ran outside to see a raccoon dog confronting the couples pet goat and pony.
"He came back and he said to me 'you are going to have to come and see this, there is something in the field attacking the pony and I have absolutely no idea what it is, she told SWNS. ..."
It was hissing and screaming and snarling, Marsh added.
It was going absolutely mad. ..."
Armed with planks of wood, it took the couple two hours to chase the angry raccoon dog away, although their pet goat was left with a sore shoulder and scratches following the animals attack.
The raccoon dog returned moments later to confront a dog walker outside the Marchs home, according to SWNS.
Police have warned local residents to be vigilant. ..."
Raccoon dogs are not raccoons, but are members of the canid, or dog family, according to the U.K.s Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (RSPCA).
They are related to foxes and wolves.

Just when you’ve think you’ve seen every type of animal that currently exists in the world, at least on land, something like this pops up in the news. It almost seems like a prehistoric creature.
I raised a male Coon from 3 days old. Bottle feeding and playing Mommy for it. When its eyes opened I was the first thing Zorro saw. We had a Cowdog/Pit/Ridgeback mix and a Doberman also.
Zorro would play with them because they were His Sister and Brother as far as He knew. We had to take the collars off the Dogs to make playtime equal. Zorro would hang on their collar with both hind feet and one front foot and the other front He would Slap the Dogs about the Face.
Also would hang out with Us in the Cattle Tank Hot Tub/Pool We had.
He would ride in the Drivers window of the Suburban holding the big outside rear view rectangle mirror with front feet and the window sill with the hind feet at any speed up to about 80 mph and then Id pull Him in for safety.
When We got to Home Depot He would ride in the basket while I shopped.
One day when He was about 1-1/2 years old, POOF off into the Woods and never came back. I guess the Spirit of the Wild struck.
I miss My Zorro.
Awwww so cute!
Ain’t that philosophy for all dogs!
at least every dog I ever had! (And we are on a farm so you can image what they got into!)
Seen it. Very good episode!
Crazy Racoon Dog Ping.
What amazes me is no one has introduced them to Florida yet.
Yes it is but...
The 1st case was PERFECTED by a Coondog that was the proud owner of a PHD (or what I call an Elmer Fudd) hence what makes a Coondogphilosophy the Leader Rolling in and Eating IT !
Well, since England has banned most guns, perhaps they can chase after it with a board.
Wait, so you get to CHOOSE heaven or hell in the afterlife??!
Well, the Devil apparently at least has one last crack to trick or deceive you into a never-ending membership at the 'steam' club.
Closing narration by Red Sterling:
Travelers to unknown regions would be well advised to take along the family dog. He could just save you from entering the wrong gate. At least, it happened that way oncein a mountainous area of... The Twilight Zone.
Well, since England has banned most guns, perhaps they can chase after it with a board.
From what I’ve read about coons, they’re cute and fun to own until they get mating age.........Then they’re no longer cute and fun and should be released to the wild.
