The victim is invited to come to court and meet the guy who stole his property or burglarized his house so he can say he’s sorry. If he does this, he gets to avoid prison.

We can make several assumptions about this incident. The Judge and the perps will not be accurately described by the media. This young thug has learned a valuable lesson. The justice system will give him a pass, a slap on the wrist for a vicious crime. He will have future victims and the family of this victim is complicit.

It's a pity that she didn't avail herself of Louisiana's very specific "shoot the carjacker" law, which was passed in the early '90s when that particular crime first arose.

I winced a bit at the location given; I used to pass that spot going to and from high school in the '70s. Back then, Prentiss Avenue was still in the safe zone, though things got dicey a bit to the south along the U.S. 90 corridor.
