With kids these days able to simply glance at their phones to see what time it is, Jimmy Kimmel was curious whether todays young people even know how to read a good old-fashioned analog clock.
So for Tuesdays edition of the Jimmy Kimmel Live! segment Can You Do It?, the late-night host sent his team out to the Los Angeles streets to ask young people walking by to perform one simple task: tell them what time it is.
Times have changed a lot over the last 30 years. Even the way we tell time has changed, Kimmel explained. And it made me wonder if young people even know how to read an old-time clock anymore. You know, the round things with the hands. Anyway, we went out on the street and we asked people to tell us what time it is using an analog clock.
The results, as you may have expected, were not great. While one participant completely confused the big hand and little hand, another refused to even give the task a go.

Does anybody really know what time it is?
I’d bet good money most Catholic school kids can tell you the time by looking at an analog clock.
Its Jimmy Kimmel.
The only Jimmy Kimmel video Im interested in watching is him lighting himself on fire outside of the White House.
only Chicago knows.
“...another refused to even give the task a go.”
What a generation of intellectually curious go-getters the public skools are raising...
The time is now.
ROFL!!!!
Didn’t even TRY!!
Learning to read an analog clock is very valuable in terms of developing abstract thinking skills.
So is playing with blocks, tinker toys and Legos. All of which are ten times more valuable for mental development than learning to use a smart phone, tablet, or computer. Ditto for unsupervised time on the playground climbing monkey bars, ladders, and ropes.
Kids who do the things I have mentioned read better, learn better, and have superior abstract & critical thinking skills.
Well, the NEA keeps shoving ignorance down their throats.
I completely agree.
Kimmel is the dip who encourages parents to make videos where they trick their kids into thinking they ate all their Halloween Candy.
Ha ha, real funny, jerkwad.
Does anybody really care...about time?
I recently had my annual physical. One of the tests was a dimentia evaluation where I was asked to draw the face of a clock then show the time at 11:15.
I asked the nurse if a young person could do this successfully.
By the way, I passed.
If so, I can’t imagine why.
And yet Kimmel would be on the front lines protesting the very improvements that need to be made to schools (preferably creating cortezillions of charter school or home school grants) to detox these students from the monstrous, communist agenda that Kimmel pushes. Sanctimonious basterd (mispelling intended).
Cant tell what time it is and they are allowed to vote. In another 30 years most young Americans (if there still is an America) wont be able to understand simple speech, another 30 years and they wont know how to go to the toilet, and another 30 years and they will need constant reminders to breath in order not to suffocate themselves. Yep, America will finally be a one party country, 100 percent democrat.
