Well the Monty Python’s were part of the movement to mock Christianity. The UK threw out Christianity and its soul.
So it is to a large extent a culturally empty shell.

no, it’s worse than that - parts like Luton are Muslim controlled, others are gay controlled. etc.
The English threw out their culture in the 60s and they have an empty space for a soul right now. Of course I am generalizing, there are still 10% or so of English who are culturally and religiously true — and I’m NOT talking Tommy Robinson who isn’t very ‘English culturally” but more just anti-muslim (which isn’t a bad thing)
But many “nationalists” I see across Europe have forgotten that Europe’s roots need to be in Christianity otherwise the nationalism is shallow.
Above is a map from 2005 - when I left. And the anglican churches were already dying. Catholic churches were a little better but the bustling ones were the Coptic, the black Baptist churches.
England has absorbed ethnic minorities before, but the problem is when the base culture is non-existent as is the case in large parts of the country.
