Anyway, Cleese's remarks have upset London mayor Sadiq "terror attacks are part and parcel of living in a big city" Khan. So at least I'll give Cleese credit for that.
London replies, “John Who?”
Cleese is simply being an elistist liberal.
Taking his “gated community” to the British Virgin Islands, is he? There’s got to be a Monty Python skit in there somewhere!
Isn’t this hate speech?
He’s right.
Londonistan is no longer British.
It is occupied territory.
Heh, heh. Not being English. Come on, old chap, spell it out for us. Unless you want to be decapitated or butchered like a chicken by some lone wolf disgruntled by his ability to find his place in a culturally different environment. Did I leave any qualifiers out?
I will always believe that the hordes of immigrants that the EU decreed Britain must accept, was the reason Brexit passed.
He’s never happy wherever he is. He hated California, he hated Monaco (he found out that supremely rich Europeans don’t gather in pubs) and will soon be hating the Caribbean as well as London.
Has anybody here ever seen Eric Burden’s place in the Caribbean??? I saw it on Facebook and it is a paradise. To paraphrase Louise Brooks: where did he get all that dough?
Brigitte Bardot essentially said the same thing about Paris years ago and was bashed by lefties.
I have felt much the same way about him, but...I am always welcoming to people who see the light.
Perhaps in this aspect of things he has.
Londoners elected a muzz as mayor. That’s all you need to know.
I thought liberals love diversity?
Run away!
Yes, he’s so mixed up.
He’s über liberal but doesn’t understand the consequences.
I dont think the British as a whole are racist at all.
... Im ashamed of the racial attacks and people being shouted out in the street or told to go home, Now its our country.”
I was just in London and it was quite British
Of course I spent a lot of time in pubs
The Tube though - not so English
Cleese said, "I note also that London was the UK city that voted most strongly to remain in the EU"
London mayor Sadiq Khan said,
"Londoners know that our diversity is our greatest strength. We are proudly the English capital, a European city and a global hub"
The inverse of diversity means unity
I've never seen anyone else point this out.
He’s right.
Cleese made a very good career of lampooning traditional England. That’s OK, I suppose. Every entity and person should be able to be laughed at.
But he was indeed a leftist who took the fashionable and modern path of socialist-progressive politics. He could also insulate himself from the problems because of his money. So that also makes him a hypocrite.
My wife and I just spent a week in London at the tail-end of a month vacation in Europe.
And Cleese is right.
From our car service from the train station to the personnel at our very nice Kensington hotel, it was two days before we met anyone with a ‘British’ accent.
But they weren’t muslim. For the most part they were from Eastern Europe, i.e., Russia, Bulgaria, Slovakia, Hungary, etc.
The only muslims we actually ran into were our Uber drivers, though we saw a lot of muslim women on the streets, and a lot of muslim shops, i.e. ‘halal’.
